Police busy with auctions/ accidents Things have been busy this month at the Terrace Bay Police Office, with a number of incidents taking place, ranging from a dog bite to thefts in the area. The Police Force also held its first- ever auction on Oct. 16 at the Police Garage. A number of seized and found items which had not been claimed by their owners were sold to the highest bidder, including an almost brand new 10-speed bicycle which went $40. A pair of nearly new skates with the price tag still attach- ed were sold for $5. A camera, axe, snowmobile helmet, and sleeping bag were also among the items auction- ed off. In actual police business, local of- ficers assisted Geraldton OPP with the investigation and subsequent charge concerning a recent motor vehicle accident. : Two people were charged earlier this month with speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. As 2 result of_ an abandoned vehicle, a Terrace Bay resident was charged with obstruct- ing traffic. One complaint of threat- ening was also investigated. "The Police Force gave assistance to the McCausland Hospital on sev- eral occasion to help with accident victims, locate ambulance calls, and attend regarding disturbances at the hospital. A possible break and enter was in- vestigated by police. No evidence was found, however, to confirm that unlawful entry had been gained to the building in question. Two motor vehicle accidents in the area were investigated over the past two weeks. Both involved over $700 in damages, and one resulted in a driver being charged under the Highway Traffic Act for starting from a parked position--not in safety. Two reports of theft were in- vestigated. One was from a local resi- dent, and the other came from CP Rail. One complaint of a dog bite was investigated as well by local officers and representatives with the area Public Health office. There were two separate com- plaints received of suspected impaired' driving.
