It's too bad they do not stay longer in all that beautiful col- our. I guess the next colour we will see is white. I would like to thank those who have been bringing in egg cartons for us to use. We are still busy making flowers so we are using them. Thank - you for your kindness. : On Wednesday, Oct. 1 our friends came into the home for the start of . the fall and winter card games. I have been asked to let you know the after- noon bridge games will be held on Tuesdays at Birchwood Terrace now, ptarting on Oct. 7. We will look for- ward to seeing you here, and our card playing residents are all ready to en- joy these afternoons. No doubt the hunting season will be in full swing, and I hope you are successful, but please be careful. We sure don't want anybody to get hurt. Good luck. As this is just a few days before Thanksgiving, I would like to wish each of you a happy day. I know some folks may think they do not have much to be thankful for, but if we take time to sit down and think about it, we have much to be thankful for. This could all be available to you if you are between the ages of 13 and 19 and are willing to be a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. Sea Cadets offers the youth of our community an opportunity to be in- volved with a national youth organ- ization. The Sea Cadets provide our youth with a chance to learn new skills and to develop a sense of citizenship and leadership. OK, sounds good, but what's the cost? That's the nice thing about Sea Cadets, it does not cost the parents or young people anything. Uniforms, travel, and lodging expenses are all covered. Call 825-3226 & leave a message for Mr. Stanchuk to call Join Navy Cadets The funding for Sea Cadets is pro- vided primarily by the Department of National Defense and by our local sponsors: the Schreiber Legion and North Shore Ambulance Services. The Cadets would be required to attend regular meetings once a week. These meetings will be in the fields of boating safety, first aid, camping, survival training, rifle competitions, and various field trips. The cadets will also learn leadership training and drill. Information and application forms will be available on Oct. 14 in the Conference Room at the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre, and on Oct. 15 in Meeting Room | at the Recreation Complex in Schreiber. The time will be 7:30 p.m. at both locations. New NA Man The new Northern Affairs Officer with the Ministry of Northern Dev- elopment and Mines for the Terrace Bay-Schreiber area is Maurice Fenelon, who will be taking over for Bob Cheetham at the Marathon office of the Ministry. Fenelon, 27, was born in Sioux Lookout and spent his childhood in several northwestern Ontario. comm- unities, a Ministry news release noted. He took up full-time duties in Marathon last month after serving as a Staff Officer with the Ministry in Kenora since May of 1985. In an interview with the News last week, Fenelon said he will be respon- sible for the traditional coverage area of the Marathon District, which in- »cludes Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Ross- port, Heron Bay, Manitouwadge, and other local municipalities. He said he will be in both Terrace Bay and Schreiber every Thursday. To make appointments with him before he arrives in Terrace Bay, call the Recreation Office. The release explained that with a family history centred in north- western Ontario, Fenelon is already familiar with the region, its lifestyle, issues, and problems.
