Page 8, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, August 6, 1986 Bits and Bit By Helene Ballard Hello! Another week gone by. I trust all is well with your world. Summer is sure going by fast. Before we know it we will be watching the leaves turn and feel a nip in the air. Our bus took some of our residents for a trip.to rainbow falls, where a nice lunch was enjoyed along with nice fresh air. Each time the bus goes our giv- ing the residents a chance to enjoy themselves, we thank the Legion for their gift. One of our nurses in- formed us that they had a new "baby" in the family. A cute wee puppy that is ten weeks old. From the description she gave me, the little fella must be a real sweetie. I love dogs so I asked her to bring him over for a visit. When I asked her what the dogs name was, she said,"Well we spoiled our kids, now this is our last chance to spoil something so we called him "'chance". I suggested she call him "carpenter" because he does old jobs around the house. At any rate, I'll be waiting for a visit from him. The president of our Resident's Council at Bir- chwood has been transfered back to Thunder Bay, to the Port Arthur General Hospital. Those of you who know Blanche Speck might like to send her a card to help cheer her up. She has had "a long row to hoe"' since March, so she can use the best wishes and support of her friends. It seems I have a "bite" this week. I have had several phone calls from residents of Terrace Heights about the condition of the yard at the house that burned in the early spring. It seems that the backyard is a real eye sore. Now, I don't know who is respon- sible for cleaning this up and cutting the grass, but whoever is . responsible, please try and clean this up. The neighbors try to keep their places looking neat so 'this eye sore does not sit well. So how about it? Thank you. I came across this little verse the other day and I thought that this could app- ly to us here in Birchwood as well as other old folk. "I AVE LTD. your jobsite. Certified Plant. M.T.C. Spec. ""We expect more than 50,000 young. people across Ontario to _par- ticipate in Futures this year,"' said Skills Develop- ment Minister Gregory Sorbara. "I'm pleased that 'we will serve more than 2,300 young people in Northwestern Ontario who are encountering serious unemployment problems. "'Futures has been an overwhelming success since it got under way last November,"Mr. Sorbara said. "The program puts young people into jobs where they are taught skills that-employers need and it provides the experience that young people need to get and hold a job."'
