Program set to go A $1.5 million province- wide program to foster tourism hospitality and awareness was announced on June 23 in Toronto by Ontario Minister of Tour- ism and Recreation John Eakins. In a Ministry news re- lease, Eakins was quoted as saying that advertising by word of mouth is what he's after. "*One of the best ways to achieve that is for every- one in Ontario to be pleas- ant, helpful and friendly to all our visitors," he added. The program will train managers and owners in the tourism industry who will in turn train their staff. The Ministry will provide training sessions with lead- ership guides and employee hospitality kits for partic- ipants, the release noted. The objective of the pro- gram is to improve the quality of service to vis- itors to Ontario and resid- ents travelling within the province. "'We will work closely with our client groups over the next several months to structure this initiative to meet their needs," Eakins explained.
