Rae visits Terrace Bay mill continued from page 1 ference call she took part in recently with area Reeves. ""We are still in the dark here. "'That's the thing that bothers me,"Councillor Chris Joubert said. "We are not getting any input from the mill. I just hope K-C keeps us involved. (Smith's) speech didn't really tell us anything." "One thing that did come out at our meeting was that they will come out when they have a sense of Concerts a hit The 1985-86 season of the Terrace Bay-Schreiber Concert Series was a finan- cial and artistic success, ac- cording to a news release from the chairman of the organizing group. Alison Stewart noted that because of the success of the series, a bonus concert with the Fort William Male Choir on April 25 was presented. The final con- cert of the season took place on May 7 with the Percussionisticks quartet. She also pointed out that pianist Linda Ippolito wrote to the organizers following her December 4 concert last year and said "'I will remember Terrace Bay as one of the most en- thusicstic stops on my tour. It was a real pleasure to play for such a terrific audience."' A tentative schedule for the 1986-87 season has also been released. Currently planned are Gaudreau/Sherwood, Michael Rusinek, Victor and Erica Shultz, Eclat, and "Pump Boys and Dinettes." Gaudreau/Sherwood, a tenor and mezzo duo, will sing songs from Gilbert and Sullivan, Mendelssohn, and gospel. Rusinek is a 17 year old clarinetist, while Victor and Erica Shultz will play the violin and piano during an evening of classical music. Eclat is a woodwind quartet which plays a varie- ty of music for all ages, and "Pump Boys and Dinet- tes" is a musical play and a nominee for Best Musical during the 1982 Tony Awards. Still under consideration are the Ontario Youth Choir, Kam Theatre, and the Manitouwadge Jazz Ensemble,"Stewart said, adding that tickets for the 1986-87 season are now available. Adult member- ships are $15 each, senior and students are $10 each, and the family reate is $35. Stewart warned that tickets prices during the an- nual Membership Drive next fall will be approx- imately five per cent higher. "I get the impression that they can turn this around," Ramsay said. 'The message from Smith was that the people will just have to work harder."' '"'What concerns me about Mr. Smith's speech was he didn't have a bot- tom line," Rae noted. "I didn't get a message that K- C will be around. It's in- conceivable to me that it won't be...it's up to us to say the mill will stay around."' "It's half a billion dollars in investment they have here," Ramsay pointed out. "I don't think they will just walk away from it, but they can't go around and tell everyone it'll be around 20 years from now." "The attitude of the workers has _ chang- ed,"Councillor Jim Ziegler admitted. He works at the K-C mill. "This is our beef too, and we want them to involve us." "*There's a great deal of speculation now because people don't know anything," Pouliot said. ""We don't want to wait six months, we want to get in- volved now."
