Bits and Bit by Helene Ballard Hi folks! Time is sure going by fast. There's no shopping time left and still so much left to do. We had a busy week here at Birchwood Terrace. On Monday evening we enjoyed a bus ride around town to see all the Christmas lights. They were very beautiful, and they make it seem more like Christmas. Our very ad Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Tuesday, December 24, 1985, page 7 able driver Joanne Jourdain was very kind to us as well as a good, careful driver. On behalf of the residents at the home I would like to thank Trottier Bus Lines for giving us a chance to go out and enjoy ourselves. The Ladies Auxiliary to Birchwood had the draw- ing on the beautiful hand made table cloth which they had been busy selling raffle tickets for. On Tuesday evening a group of ladies from St. Martin's Catholic Church came to Birchwood to entertain us. They call themselves *'The Gem of the North Shore.' They put on a Christmas skit which was all about Santa' elves. These ladies who did such a good job were Mary Hale, Betty Hanley, Mary Roberts, Kathleen Mik- konen, Mary Dashkewytch, Maria Hermes, and their narrator Edna Ramsay. Their little play was all put to music by Betty Hanley who also has a beautiful voice. She made the French speaking residents very happy by singing *'O Holy Nite** in French. All in all it was a very nice way to spend an evening, so we all say thank you and God Bless. On Thursday afternoon the Catholic Women's League from Holy Angel's Church were hostesses for our monthly Birthday Par- ty, complete with a Penny Auction. The residents always look forward to this. Our thanks to these hard working ladies. Our bridge players would like to thank all the ladies who came over on Wednesday afternoons to enjoy playing bridge. Our residents look forward to these afternoons, and they would all like to thank all of you and wish you a Merry Christmas. We always look forward to our Christmas Party, which was held this year on Dec 19-1 this event brought out all the residents along with the staff and their families together for an evening of fun and games. On Dec. 23 we will have our Christmas luncheon with the Birchwood Ter- race Ladies Auxiliary, along with a visit from San- turkey is ready for the oven as well as all the other things you had to do, so sit down, lean back, kick off your shoes, and close your eyes.
