Everyone is welcome! "Ladies Night" For The Fitness Room; There will be 2 nights a week with specific times reserved for Ladies Only in the Fitness Room at the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre. The, nights are Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. This is for a 4 week trial basis only, to see if interest is sufficient to warrant the restricted times. "Ladies Night" started on Monday, March 26th, and we hope to see quite a few ladies out par- ticipating on these special nights. pring Fever Squash & acquetball Tournament: We are hoping to run a week long Squash and Racquetball tourna- ment, starting Monday, April 2nd and completing on Sunday, April & 8th. This type of tournament is aimed at attracting maximum participation and games can be played at the convenience of both parties involved. We hope to see enough of you sports enthusiasts register to allow an "A", "B", "C" and a "Beginner's" division. The draw will be double elimination which guarantees all participants two games. Registration deadline is today, so get your name in now if yee wish to enter. Fee for members is $5.00 and for non-members it is $10.00. Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club Ice Show: The dates for this spring's Figure Skating Ice Show are Friday, April 6th (evening performance), and Saturday, April 7th (matinee performance). Hope to see you there for an evening or afternoon of fine entertainment. Terrace Bay Curling Club Mixed Bonspiel: -- This year the Terrace Bay Curling Club will be holding their Mixed Bonspiel from Friday, April 13th to Sunday, April 15th. This was a very popular event last year and featured fine curling from local teams and from surrounding areas. 2nd Annual "Flea Market" 'For Terrace Bay The:date for the 2nd Annual Flea Market for Terrace Bay is Sunday, May 6th, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the arena. Please note that a Flea Market features old or used items and is not for crafts or new articles. If you wish to reserve a table for the Flea Market, call the recreation office at 3542. Tables are $5.00 each. Annual North Shore "Fun Run": The Annual North Shore "Fun Run - Walk, Bike, Etc', will be held on Monday, May 14th. Now is the time to start encouraging your group or organization or family to participate. We would like to give the other communities some real competition this year and it would be great to see Terrace Bay come in first or even second! Watch future issues of the News for further details on this annual event. inter-Cultural Festival: Saturday, June 9th is the date for Terrace Bay's first Inter-Cultural Festival. This event will be held in the arena and will feature various ethnic groups from Thunder Bay performing ethnic dances, offering ethnic food and socials. Further details on this exciting event will be available shortly. 'POSSIBLE PROGRAMS Bridge Clinic: Ses We have quite a few names of people interested in taki rt ina Bridge Clinic but we have no instructor. If you are ct | ied and would like to instruct a workshop of this nature, please give us a call. We would like to offer a clinic for beginner's as well as for advanced players. Folk and/or Ballroom Dancing: We also have received names of many people interested in taking lessons in Folk Dancing or Ballroom Dancing for couples, and we are looking for an instructor for these programs also. Weight Training For Women: Joe Kostecki recently instructed a very successful weight training program for women and we have indication that more women would like to participate in a course of this nature. We are not sure -- when the course will be held but it should be before the end of April and will be 10 hours in length, spread out over a few evenings. If you are interested please give us a call and remember you can con- tineu your weight training program after the course is over on "Ladies Night" at the fitness room, or at any other time the fitness room is open. Ministry of Agriculture & Food Courses: -- The followina short. special interest oroarams are offered by the Ministry of Agriculture & Food, through the Home Economist in Thunder Bay: Sewing for Your Child; Fitting and Sewing Pants; Food Preservation; Rug Braiding; Fashion Sense & Savings and Simple Home Repairs. These courses can be offered at a very minimal charge, if we have at least 20 people interested. Whatever courses we receive sufficient registration in we will attempt to offer for this spring or summer. GENERAL Arena Closes For Season: On Sunday, April 15th, the arena will cease operation for another season. Keep an eye out for special summer activites that will be held in the arena. 25th Anniversary For Terrace Bay: A committee has been formed to co-ordinate activities for Terrace Bay's 25th Anniversary Celebration. Events will take place from Friday, June 29th to Saturday, July 7th. 1f you have ideas or sugges- tions for this special event in our community, please call Ollie Chapman at 825-3289. Roy J. . McParland of Sudbury officiated at the wedding ceremony. Doris is a former Schreiberite, daughter of Gordon and Phyllis McParland.
