December 8, 1940 , poet 4 COTRNENU "Our Gang" This job of being father to a group of healthy boys Sure has its many headaches as well as all its joys. Their fancies are so varied, and their feelings are so 'frail One has to be a diplomat to keep'a clear sail. You know it keeps me guessing, lest I should favour one. I do not think a man should have any favourite son, And yet they are so different, in their habits and their wants. You have to take sides sometimes, whenever justice warrants. Take Bill and Joe for instance, who are older than the others. By look or act or temperment, you'd never know were brothers. And Teddy is quite different, from the more impulsive John. While Paul and Terry seem to be the two who get along. But I hope that they will ne'er forget that they are each my son, And when they're grown will try to work, the other for each one, And trust they'll someday understand that if I smear their faces It's merely that when they are men, I would, they know their places. Disability Benefits are monthly pensions pay- able to eligible contri- butors who prior to their 65th birthday become disabled within the meaning of the Canada Pension Plan Act. Un- married children under the age of 21 who are attending school or Uni- versity full-time and who are dependant on the disabled contributor are eligible for a month- ly Disabled Contribut- or's Child Benefit. A person is consider- ed to be disabled accord- ing to the Canada Pen- sion Plan legislation on- ly if that person has a physical or mental dis- ability which is both "severe" and "pro- longed". Severe means that the individual is in- capable of pursuing any substantial gainful oc- cupation. Prolonged means that the disability is likely to be long- continued and of an in- definite duration, or is likely to result in death. In order to qualify for the disability pension, a disabled individal must have. made contribu- tions to the Canada Pen- sion Plan for the mini- mum qualifying period. This period is either equivalent to 1/3 of the calendar years that an individual was required . to contribute to the plan, or 10 calendar years, whichever is less. There are no benefits pay- able to individuals who- have made less than 3 years of contributions to the plan. A disability pension for both the disabled person and his or her dependant children can begin on the fourth month following the month in which the Ca- nada Pension Plan ad- ministration deems the contributor to be dis- abled. Benefits cease when the pensioner re- covers, returns to gain- ful employment, dies, or becomes 65 years of age. Benefits for the dis- abled contributor's de- pendent children cease continued on page 9 STORE HOURS: Tues. to Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday night 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mastercard & Visa accepted The Shoe Place Located in Mountain View Plaza Schreiber « 824-2215 CHURCHLEYS wish to notify all customers that the deadline for exchanges or returns for Christmas mer- chandise must be made _ by January 10th, 1984. qg Jewellers TERRACE BAY 825-3592
