Clip it and Save. 1984 Recreation Mem- berships Memberships for 1984 are on sale at the office, and make great gift ideas for the entire fa- mily. The Recreation Centre operates on a membership system that works in the follow- ing manner: All per- ' sons who join any of the following organizations must have at least one type of membership with the Terrace Bay Recreation Association: Curling, Hockey, Figure Skating, Bowling, Swimming, Minor Base- ball, Broomball, Ring- ette, or any other team or club that uses the Recreation Centre's fa- cilities. Full member- ship is also required if a person wishes to use the Fitness Room, Sauna, Squash and Racquetball Courts, and avoid the non-member user fee. There are two types of membership; 1. Full Membership - runs for the entire year, Janu- ary 1 to December 31, and covers entire family. Holders of a Full Membership may parti- cipate in any activity. Some privileges of a Full Membership are: 1. Re- duced rates for squash, racquetball, open bowl- ing, roller skating, of any activity where a non-member or mem- ber fee is charged; 2. Able to book courts one day in advance; 3. Free public swimming; 4 Children are allowed to partake in swim les- sons at a reduced rate; 5. Reduced rates for Tournaments sponsored by the Recreation De- partment; 6. Use of Fitness Room and Saunas at no charge. The second type of Membership is the One- Activity Membership. This is designed for people who wish to par- ticipate in one activity only. Listed are the one- activity memberships currently available: Curling, Hockey, Fig- ure Skating, Broom- ball, Ringette, Bowling, Swim Lessons, and Tennis. This type of Mem- bership covers one per- son only, and expires at conclusion of activity's season. An example of this type of Membership is a One-Activity Mem- bership for Curling; the Membership runs from October to April, the the ne au Curling season. the One-Activity Mem- bership, no Member-. bership, no Membership Card is issued, and no other Membership privileges apply. Mem- bership can be obtained at the Recreation Of- fice from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 :p.m. Monday to Saturday, and from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sun- day. Terrace Bay, who passed away No- vember 30, 1983, were held on Saturday, December 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Terrace Bay Community Church. Rev. Brian Bigelow officiated, with Clara Gould as organist. Interment at the Terrace Bay Cemetary. Pall bearers were sons Roland and Ricky; son-in-law's Dave Jalava, Chris Cottenden and Charlie Matson; and special friend Jake Ellsworth. Honary Pallbearers were John Long, Henry Burle and Frank Sechesky. Many friends attended. Out of town guests were: from Thunder Bay, Henry Burle, Marie Hosannna, Cecile Kashuba; from Winnipeg, Irene Colliou. A lunch was served by the Ladies Auxiliary, Legion Branch 223, Terrace Bay. Horticultural Society Once again it is time to "PLANT YOUR CHRISTMAS BULBS". The Society is running its Christmas bulb competition, for the best decorated house and front yard. The competition is judged on the whole effect and you can use ice sculpture, flood lights, models and coloured lights. It is QUALITY not quantity that will count. The prizes will be gift certificates from Creekside Nursery and will be the same as last year. ' $50.00, Second prize - $30.00 and First prize - Third prize - $15.00 Judging will be by last year's winners and will take place the week before Christmas, December 17-24. Winners will be notified as soon as possible after the judging is completed. Last year was the first time we ran this competition and the standard was very high. This year let's make it even better.
