SCHOOL NEWS The North of Super- ior District Roman Catholic Separate School Board is organ- izing an important work- shop for September, 1983. Under the spon- sorship of the Ontario Separate School Trustees' Association, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers As- sociation, 1' Association des Enseignants franco- Rossport Notes by ANNE TODESCO Professor Cal Cotrell and Mrs. Cotrell of Tem- ple University, of Markstown, Ohio en- - joyed their annual fishing trip here and left for home with their limit of Lake Trout and Northern Pike. They were accom- panied by Mrs. Gloria Miller of the same city. Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Chuck) Wilde of Dunn- sville, Ont. enjoyed a five day sailing cruise among the islands of the bay. The Wildes were among the first sailing en- thusiasts while residing in Rossport. Both Ann and Chuck taught school in Schreiber. They enjoyed seeing old friends and neighbours while here. Mr. and Mrs. George Hubelit and family were guests of his brother Bill and wife Josephine Hubelit here, they were enroute to their home in Regina, Saskatchewan where he teaches school after a holiday in Eastern Ontario. ' Mary and Alan Kerr of the Adventure Canoe Trails from Atikokan, Ont. took-a 21 day canoe trip among the islands in Rossport Bay and the Slate Islands, which they described as "dramatic and very beautiful."' Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Kenney had their nephew Rev. Father William Ken- ney of Pembroke, Ont. holidaying with them last week. Father Kennedy was accompanied by Mike Ronski. They en- joyed fishing the inland lakes and sight seeing by boat in the bay. Juris Zdanovskis had his mother Mrs. leve Zdanovskis and his aunt Mrs. Helen Berzic of Montreal, Quebec visiting him the past week. Mrs. Heather McGrath has returned from a holi- day spent on the Cana- dian Atlantic Sea coast. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Faucault of Espanola visited their aunt, Mrs. Anne Todesco this week. The theme of the September 23-24, 1983, programme will be "Keeping our Schools Catholic'. Teachers and trustees will meet on Friday, September 23rd to dis- Sarnia, ontario. Fun Parade, a group of Rossportites decided on a fun parade on the holiday weekend. The parade started from the Mac's Garage through town to the Hutterli Apt. building. Many were dressed in costumes and played musical in- struments and sang. The queen of the day, Leasa MclIsaac, rode in a decorated car. Following the parade and games, about fifty people attend- ed a pit roasted piglet supper on the Hutterli lawn. The local sailboat en- thusiasts of Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport held a Regatta on Sun- day. Six sailboats were in the race that circled the Battle Island lighthouse station. Sister Elaine Dunn, C.S.J., Resource Coordinator of the Trustees' Associa- tion, will be directing the activity of the day. Sister Elaine has work- ed as a religion con- sultant for the Lon- don R.C.S.S. Board, taught at the London Teachers' College and at the Divine Word Insti- tute for Religious Edu- cation. She has been with the Trustees' As- sociation for the past ten years. Father Prieur will be coming from London, Ontario, where he is a professor of moral and sacramental theology. the harbour nearest to the time limit of six p.m. The consolation prize went to Tom and Carrol Beckett of Schreiber. The two prizes were donated by Olaf Sundall of the Win- djammer Craft Shop. A pot luck supper was en- joyed at Colleen Taylor's home by the contestants. The contestants plan on making this sport event an annual one. Lakehead visitors dur- ing the week were Mrs. Camilla Legault, Mrs. Hilda' Mushqush, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Campbell and Danny and Willard Hubelit, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gerow. Gregory Mclsaac has left to attend the Lakehead University towards a degree in Education while his wife Leasa has left to attend McGill University in Montreal. She is articl- ing for a lawyer's degree. Mrs. Mable McMin- nimey Humphrey and daughter Dorcas of Toronto visited Mrs. Eileen Rouble recently. They were' former Rossport residents. Mrs. Thressa Howard of St. Catherines, Ont. and her two grand- children Steven and Julia Messenger of Ottawa visited her sister Eileen Rouble the past week. Other guests of Mrs. Roubles were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dobransky of Bath, Ont. Wm. Schelling is a pa- tient in McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay, Ont.
