What a terrific summer the Swimming Pool has had. The Pool will close on August 28, after the regular Public swim time from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This will be your last chance to use the Pool this summer. Water's great, so parti- cipate! Swim lessons will finish on August 23. Roller Skating The Arena is the loca- tion for Roller Skating. Times are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. for ages 13 and up only. Saturdays, we hold two sessions, one from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and one from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. The Roller Skating ses- sion will run until Sep- tember 8. Looking for a cool summer activity? Bowling Tournament Bowling season is ap- proaching, and to kick off this year's season, the Recreation Office is planning a Men's and a Ladies' Open Double Elimination Tourna- ment. The dates for the Tourney are Friday, September 23 and Satur- day, September 24. Registration fee is the same as last year - $5.00. Prizes will consist of trophies and mer- chandise. If you are interested, register by calling the Recreation Office at 3542, or drop by the Office. Deadline ~ to register is September 14. It was greatly appreciated. Norma Fummerton MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES. 1983 HUNTING LICENCE EXAMINATION SCHEDULE A fee of $3.00 will be charged for a hunting licence examination. All first time hunters, born after December 31, 1954, must first complete a course in Hunter Safety Training from a qualified instructor before being allowed to write the examination. An appointment must be made at one of the above mentioned offices and the examination fee paid in advance of any examination date. The dead- line to register is Septe- mber 14 at 10:00 p.m. New Programs for Fall Quilting by Machine With Nicole Glassier Do you know how to sew a straight hem on a sewing machine? If so, then you have the basic requirements 'for this course. What is the course about? Exactly as the name implies - you will learn different methods of quilting by using a sewing machine. It's unique; it's easy, "it's quick, it's fun! Each in- dividual will learn quilt- ing techniques through demonstrations, make samples during class, and be required to com- plete a project. Some ex- amples of projects you can complete are: quilts, tote bags, place mats, chair pads, pillows, and vests. This course will start in early October and run once a week for 6 weeks. Shape, Exercise and Aerobic Program With Lisa Corrigan Get in shape for the upcoming winter acti- vities by joining this fun and active exercise class, 3 mornings a week. Sessions will in- clude: warm-ups, calis- thenics, aerobics, and cool-downs. This class will be Mondays, Wed- nesdays, and Fridays from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. The first session will be Monday, September 19, and the program will finish on Friday, De- cember 9. There is room for only 7 more people in this class, so call the Recreation Office today to ensure your spot in the program. Mixed Aerobic Exercises With Lyn Black . Back by popular de- mand 'is the Mixed Aero- bic class. This program will run for 8 weeks, twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays), and will start in mid Octo- ber. Location is not yet definite, and you will be advised of this at a later date. Sign up soon, as this class always gets booked up early! Jazz Dance Phase III For children ages 4 to 12. We will be offering a continuation of last Spring's popular Jazz Dance lessons. Further details regarding dates, time etc. will be announ- ced shortly. Jazz Dance for Begin- ners There is a possibility of offering a Beginner's Jazz class if sufficient interest is shown. Please call the Recreation Of- fice at 3542 if you wish to join. Ballet Phase II For ages 4 to 12. This is a continuation of last Spring's Ballet class. Further details will be available shortly regard- ing times, dates, etc. "Woodworking, Ballet for Beginners For ages 4 to 12. If enough interest is shown, we will try to offer a Beginner's Pro- gram for Ballet. Call the Recreation Office if you are interested. Know Your Car, Up- holstery and Furniture Refinishing These three courses are tentative, and inter- est has been shown in all of them. We would still like to receive some more names before defi- nite steps are taken to set the courses up. If you have an interest in any of these areas, please call and let us know. Other Programs Besides the above list- ed programs for the Fall, we still have others in the planning stages. Some of them are: Yoga, Basic Photography, Intro- duction to Piano Les- sons, Stained Glass, Ceramics: Beginner, - Advanced and Work- shop, Introductory Ac- counting (College credit course), Ladies' Fitness (evening), Paper Tole Workshop, Microwave II Fun and Entertaining, and Relaxation Work- shop. Tot Lot News The past two weeks of Tot Lot have been full of a lot of special events. The first week, the children enjoyed many new crafts and games. A trip to the Theatre was enjoyed by all. The children were taken up- stairs to see how the movies are run, and they later watched car- toons. At the end of the week, a camping trip to Rainbow Falls was greatly enjoyed by the children, as well as the leaders. The children that attended the camp- ing trip proved to be a super bunch of kids!
