Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, May 4, 1983, page 5 Cook's Lake Subdivision: "'We're ready to go" The final plans for the Cook's Lake Subdivision have been bundled up and shipped off to Toronto for approval by the Ministry of Housing. Once that approval is received, Schreiber will have a major addition to its residential land stock. The forty-nine lots will be available for sale as a unit or on an individual basis. Reeve Harold Fischer says that the new subdivision will enable Schreiber to meet any new housing demand if a new mine is built at Winston Lake. "Our sewage system was built with a capacity in excess of our present needs and with the addition of the new water treatment plant this summer we will be able to about double our present rate of use." Clerk Aurel Gauthier said, "The sub- division has been in the planning stage since last fall. The preliminary work was done by the Town Engineer and consult- ants did the final draft plan." In addition to the Cook's Lake Subdi- vision (R-271) several other private ' developers are working on sub-divisions in the township. "They are doing preliminary work and the municipality will have some involvement. Co-operation would be required in developing the remainder of R-270. The area between Langworth Street and the Cook's Lake Subdivision. We are going to have to re-route the Creek and we are going to have to do that in co-operation with the owners of the land. We will also be investigating some of the potential drain- age problems in the area."' Looking back... What was happening in the NEWS 12 years ago, May S, 1971.
