SCHOOL NEWS SCHREIBER WINS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT On Saturday, January 27, Lake Superior Public School - Schreiber and Terrace Bay and Holy Angels Separate School par- ticipated in a volleyball tournament. Competition was keen in both the boys' and girls' games, and the Schreiber Campus teams went undefeated during the tour -nament. Members of the winning teams were: BOYS - Brent Mills, Randall Kushnieryk, Narcisse Bain, D'Arcy Bain, Kari Luomala, Chris Miller, Clifford Legacy. GIRLS - Cheryl Smith, Sandy Nesbitt, Lizy Hartmann, Daryl Lyn Richardson, Judy McBride, Terry Bouchard, Shannon Riley, Karen Madge. Serving as coaches were D. Ditchfield, W. McGee. H. Shack, B. Spadoni, W. Morrill, D. Mills and D. Davey. Special thanks to B. The resource people are to be Lyn Macleod, Chairman of the Lakehead Board of Education, Frances Poleschuk, Regional Director of The Ministry of Educa- tion, and Margaret Twomey, Director of The Lake Superior Board of Education. Margaret Twomey rorseie on the Conflict Management Seminar that she, Bill Houston and Bryan Lever attended at Quetico on January 10-12th. The workshop conducted by Dr. Norman Berk- owitz of Boston College assisted the participants in develop- ing skills to recognize and deal with conflict situations. The Director also informed the Board that she would be attend- ing the meeting scheduled for Directors of Education with the new Minister of Education to be held in Toronto on Friday, January 26th. Bob French, Principal of Marathon High School, reported his activities since January 1st to the Board. He indicated that he had discussed expectations and coficerns with each class and each teacher. He also indicated that he had held an open house to meet with parents and had had the Fpporn ty to meet approximately forty parents. The meeting was adjourned at 22 00. The next regular meeting of the Lake Superior Board of Education will be held on Monday, February 19, 1979, at 19 00 in the Marathon High School library. FIGURE SKATING NEWS This reporter would like to state that she missed ub she ing two successful tests passed last weekend.
