NOVEMBER 29, 1978 ok TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 HOSPITAL NEWS The Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital met Monday evening November 20th at St. Martin School. Various items of business were dealt with. The Auxiliary accepted with regret the resig- nation of Elaine Mannisto as recording secretary and were pleas -ed to appoint Pat Fenton as new recording secretary. WOODEN TOY SALE - The wooden toy sale was a great success and it is hoped that the Auxiliary will undertake this project ann= ually. Convener, Marg Gander, wished to thank all those -who helped and also explained that the United Church Ladies have given the Auxiliary a table at their Christmas bazaar on Decemb -er 2nd in the basement of the Town Hall to sell wooden toys. ang and the remainder of the stuffed toys. CHRISTMAS RAFFLE - A special Raggedy-Ann raffle has been plann- ed for Christmas. You may see this big, beautiful Raggedy-Ann at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce on the next three Fridays. The draw will be made on the Friday before Christmas so you will have time to put her under the tree! VOLUNTEER- SERVICES = Corrie Haas reported that this area was managing well and she thanked two ladies who have volunteered their hairdressing services to any patients in hospital. An evening in December was planned for the Auxiliary to put up Christmas decorations at the hospital. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE = The membership drive is still continuing in Terrace Bay and Schreiber. Your support, as always, is needed and appreciated. GUEST SPEAKER MR, DONALD E, ROSS - President, Sheelagh Hamilton welcomed Mr. Donald Ross, Administrator of the McCausland Hos- pital. The main theme of his talk was "The Role of the Auxili- ary in Hospital Life" and it was delivered in a most informa- tive and encouraging manner. Mr. Ross outlined the areas in which Auxiliaries have traditionally .involved themselves; in fund-raising (through the Gift Shop, membership drives, bake sales, Hospital Ball, etc.) and in volunteer work or Direct Patient Care Services (such as interpreting, hairdressing, patient transportation, tray favour, library services). Mr. Ross commended the Auxiliary for the involvement it has already shown towards the building of the new hospital espec- jally through its financial committment and the time and effort ]3 expended in the planning of the new Gift Shop. Mr. Ross was thanked by Sheelagh Hamilton and it was clear that the Auxiliary appreciated his interest and encouragement. The meeting was ended with a Tovely lunch provided by Mrs. Mary Leiben.
