[t's a healthy sport and lots of fun. And it's also a necessity in remote areas or during emergencies. Wherever they are driven, operating skill is called for. The snowmobile is not a toy. It is a power-driven vehicle that must be under the driver's control every second otherwise, the driver could become another accident statistic. . Everyone who operates a snowmobile should know Ontario's laws which apply to the machine; they should also know the mach -ine itself; how it works and how to drive it in different sit- uations. A Snowmobiler's Handbook has been prepared by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications with the co-operation of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, the Ontario Safety League and the Ministry of Natural Resources. Such topics as registration, permits, speed limits, helmets, safety tips, tow- ing and wind chill factors are included in this booklet. For your free copy of the Snowmobiler's Handbook please con- tact the Northern Affairs Office located on the Lower Floor, Peninsula Building, Marathon, Ontario, telephone 229-1153. ---
