J. Viberts, Administrator of Birchwood Terrace, to the regular month'y meeting of Pinewood-Bi rchwood Auxiliary Thursday evening, November Oth. Minutes were read and Treas- urer Ken Macleod, after presenting the accounts, informed the membership the last estimate had been received enabling us now to submit our application to Wintario for assistance. He de- tailed the many features to be included in this audio-visual project. The President said how pleased she was to have this news as it had been eur 1978 project and expressed the grati- tude of the members to Mr. Macleod. Convenors reporting were: Estelle Wallwin - Sick and Visit -ing; Volunteer Services - Gertrude Cotton; Fall Tea - Peggy Thompson who thanked those working with her on this success= ful venture, and Games Night - Gertrude Cotton and May Dorland. Mrs. Dorland read notes on a Chapel as a future project for Birchwood Terrace and queried Mr. Vibert on available space. The Home is nearing capacity and it would therefore wait for some future expansion or as an alternative, use a portable altar and suitable amchairs for residents, rather than pews, in the present board room. Mrs. Dorland further suggested a dinner for clergy of the immediate district who attend the Home. This was referred to the New Year. Mina Mahoney, Director of Activities, invited representa=- tives from the Auxiliary to the Christmas Party, December 15. She will provide a 1ist of suggestions and Beth Macadam and Peggy Thompson again offered to shop for the Christmas gifts "to residents. Mrs. Ann Wilkes had offered her group of students from St. Martin's School to come to Birchwood Terrace and entertain with their ukuleles together with some event by the Auxiliary. It was decided to hold it on Robbie Burns Day, January 25th. A convenor will be requested to attend to the lunch for resi- dents, students and guests. The next meeting was scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec=- ember 8th and the annual meeting on Thursday, January 11th at 7230 p.m. Estelle Wallwin and Gertrude Cotton will fom a nominating committee. Elsie Cooke offered to take over the Membership Convenorship. Mrs. Vic Winters, a new resident at Birchwood Terrace re- ceived a round of applause as she turned in her first returns from the Hockey Pools. Mina Mahoney was asked to handle requests for shopping assistance or with sending Christmas cards by residents. Mr. Vibert spoke of the development of this Auxiliary since his first visit at it's inception. He stressed the need to relate to residents, particularly as they experienced the move from their own homes to the residence. He talked of the uniqueness of Birchwood Terrace as one of it's kind in Canada and many representatives come to observe. He also hoped to get a good Resident's Council established here.
