TERRACE BAY NEWS SEPTEMBER 13, 1978 St. Marfin Church was the scene of a lovely wedding when Geralyne Waghorn and Michael Russel were united in marriage by Father Murtagh on Saturday, September 2nd at 4230 p.m. The Bride is the daughter of Lionel and Alice Waghorn of Terrace Bay and the Groom is the son of Jagk Russel of Thornhill Ontario and Joan Russel of Meaford, Ontario. Maggie Donnely, accompanied by guitar, was soloist for the event. The Altar was bedecked with white gladiolas and pink carnations. The Bride, given in marriage by her father and mother, looked radiant in a white empire gown of nylon over taffeta, featuring pink flowers and a pink satin bow on the bodice, a ruffled stand-up collar, mutton sleeves and a flounced hemline carried into a set-in train. Her white picture hat, accented with-pink flowers, was encircled. with a white tulle scarf. She carried a white and pink parasol adorned with a white orchid and her jewelry was a single gold chain, a gift of the Groom. : Kerry Waghorn, sister of the Bride, was Maid of Honour and Cindy Waghorn, also sister of the Bride, was the Bri desmai d. Both attendants were attired in floor-length gowns of pink poly- ester with accordian pleats and matching short-sleeved bolero jackets. White flowers were entwined in their hair and they carried white orchids. They wore the Brides' gifts of silver chain bracelets. Steve Atwell attended the Groom as Best Man while Kevin Russel, brother of the Groom and Peter Waghorn, brother of the Bride, served as ushers. The Groom wore a creme-coloured tuxedo and his attendants were dressed in creme-coloured jackets and royal blue pants. The Bride's mother chose a dusty rose floral gown of chiffon over taffeta, complimented by a matching long-sleeved jacket with accordian pleats and a corsage of white tea roses. The Groom's mother chose a sleeveless floor-length gown of rust taffeta, accented with a corsage of white sweetheart roses. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Legion - Hall, During the dinner, catered by Faye Figliomeni, a toast to the Bride was proposed by Ed Cavanaugh. Dinner was followed with dancing to the music of "Sound Investment". Carol Waghorn, sister of the Bride, circulated the guest book. For her travelling costume, the Bride chose an egg-shell coloured blouson of crepe texture and brown satin pants. Her corsage was a white orchid. The happy couple will reside in Flesherton, Ontario.
