BOARD MEETING The Lake Superior Board of Education held their meeting No. 8/78 in the Marathon High School Library 1978 08 21. The meeting was called to order by Chairman ALS. Gordon. Minutes of the previous Board meeting held on June 19th were accepted. : Disbursements were approved as follows: = $1,165,715. 49 which includes Term Deposit Purchases in the amount of $500,000, for the month of June 1978; - $880,391.22 which includes Term Deposit Purchases in the amount of $500,000. for the month of July 1978. : Local staff appointments were approved as follows: Mrs. Bernadette Thompson, Junior and Senior Kindergarten teacher at Lake Superior Public School, for the school year 1978-79; . Miss Caroline Fehr, as part-time Art teacher at Lake Superior High School, effective September 1, 1978; Mrs. Lise Roy as Custodian at Lake Superior High School, effective June 26, 1978 A Transportation Agreement with North Shore Transit was ap- proved in the amount of $73,069.20 for the school year 1978-79. This represents a 6.3% increase over last school year's agree- ment. Approval was also granted for the 1978-39 Transportation Agreement for Caroline McMorland Students, with Mr. Donat Cyr, in the amount of $3,800.00. The new agreement represents a 7% increase over last year. Imperial 0i1 Limited was awarded the Fuel 0il1 Agreement for the period September 1/78 to August 31, 1979, for Mani toueadge, Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. M. Twomey, Director of Education, gave a brief report to th Board which included reference to the introduction of an exten -ed all-day Senior Kindergarten program in the Lake Superior Public School, Schreiber Campus. : The Board was also informed that Mr. Edward G. (Ted) Hanley Guidance teacher at the Lake Superior High School, has success fully completed his Ph.D. program. The next regular monthly meeting of The Lake Superior Board of Education will be on Monday, Sept. 18, 1978 in Marathon.
