SEPTEMBER 7, 1978 TERRACE BAY NEWS - PAGE 3 NOTES FROM YOUR HORTICULTYRAL SOCIETY: Judging of the Home Beautification Contest was carried out by the well-known gardener Mr. 'Jiggs' McInnes of Nipigon - for -tunately the day before the hail storm. The winners were: 1st = Mr. and Mrs. E, Persson; 2nd = Mr. and Mrs. A.Co Poole; 3rd- Mr. and Mrs. T, Dorland." Honourable Mentions: Mr. and Mrs. A. Connors, Mr. and Mrs. John Mikus and Mrs. Marg Simmer. The Home Beautification Contest is generously sponsored by Kimberly=Clark of Canada and the Horticultural Society wishes to express its appreciation of their continuing support in this project. The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Home for the Aged was held at Pine- wood Court on Friday, August 25th, 1978, Accounts for Pinewood Court and Bi rchwood Terrace totalling $106,450.93 were passed for payment. Five new residents were app.oved for admission and one for Vacation Care. This brings the waiting 1ist at Pinewood Court to fourteen with a further number of applications being processed. The Board spent considerable time reviewing the work that has been done on future planning and, this will be a continuing process gathering facts and figures. Hoping in the end to arrive at the best plan for the Seniors that are in need of care, The Board also dealth with a copy of a letter received by the Administrator from Mr. W, 0'Neill, Senior Consultant Hos- pital Administration, Northern Area, Institutional Branch to the Chairman of the Board of McCausland Hospital, Mrs. Joby McEwen for Terrace Bay. The letter dealt with the possible intergration of services between the Hospital Board and the Home for the Aged Board with the completion of the new Hospi tal.
