CURLING CLUB UPDATE: The necessary information has been gathered to submit to the Ministry of Culture and Recreation for approval of Wintario funding. The estimated construction cost is $22,990.00 of which Wintario will put in $15,326.00 because of the $7663.00 raised by the club. Approval should be received within six to eight weeks. = BEAVER COLONY: Data from Mr. Doug Grainger, District Commissioner, has been received, on the formation and Mr. D, McDonald, Provincial Field Executive Member will be here early this month. Again, this will be for boys aged four to six years. When, the time comes to enroll your son, your assistance with the program will be appreciated. BASEBALL TOURNAMENT: Teams from Terrace Bay, Manitouwadge, Nipigon and Schreiber will be in a tournament at Schreiber on September 9th, 1978. Come out and see some good minor baseball action. FITNESS TESTING: At some time in the winter we will establish a fitness test- ing area, open to all persons.. Costs for equipment and program content are now being gathered. BOXING RING: Thanks to several people we have located the posts and ropes for the boxing ring. If there are people in Schreiber interested in re-establishing this sport please give us a call at the Recreation Office. WINTER PROGRAMS: The Recreation Office is presently trying to set up winter - programs for young and old; as plans develop, more data will be released. ARENA UPDATE: : At this writing, we do not have construction prices on the redesign of the Recreation Complex, however, these should be in our hands early next week. The MeMe Dillon in-depth report is onits way, costs given to us are in two forms. (1a) Repair to code regulations - $469,000.00 (1b) Renovation beyond regulations - $254,000.00 for a total amount of $723,000.00 (2a) Tear existing Arena down and replace completely (does not include Kimberly-Clark facility) $942,000.00. These are estimated costs. With this data our position should be strengthened on not repairing the existing building. |t had been hoped to give more details on total prices, but Gateway is still working on the construction end.
