The recreation department would like to thank all those people that assisted us in our endeavours. [t was a summer of-relocating, revamping and learning. There are known areas of concern in all programs and have been noted for change in 1979. Above this, | feel that the summer was successful, considering what there was for equipment, location and first year program~- | look forward to 1979, so what was started this year can be built upon. SCHREIBER 1ST ANNUAL RUN FOR FUN PROGRAM: Anyone wishing to go in the "Run For Fun" program please register at the Recreation Offfice. This is not a competition the only award is a T:Shirt for all those completing the run for fun program. The run will begin in Terrace Bay and com- plete in Schreiber, on Saturday, September 16, 1978. CURLING CLUB: ; Some questions have been asked of my office about the Cur- ling Club. Is is re-opening this winter? At the present time a meeting of the Curling Club Building Committee is being sought. It is also my understanding that the necessary repairs} will have to be completed prior to opening. FITNESS TRAIL: ' The Schreiber Kinsmen Club has thrown their 100% support behind the project, and the Canadian Pacific Railway has been approached for securing the land. We should hear from them within four or five weeks. The land we are seeking is across the street from the Holy Angels Church. Sun Life Insurance has been talked to about getting signs for the exercise sta- tions. In the near future you will see a sign erected at the proposed si te. SWIM-A-THON MONIES: If you have pledge monies for the swim-a-thon and have not been reached for collection, would you please contact the per- son you sponsored, so we can collect all monies outstanding. FITNESS CLASSES: The Recreation Office has made contact with Bill Smilsky who would be willing to conduct fitness classes during the winter. Men and ladies if you are interested please call the Recreation Office and leave your name and phone number. YOUTH BOWLING AND CURLING: At the present time we are working with the Terrace Bay Dept., to see if we can set up a Youth Bowling League. As fur -ther developments result they will be made public. BEAVER COLONY: ' Progress is being made in organizing a 'Beaver colony. At the present time we are waiting the Regional Directors requi redj information. ARENA UPDATE: The new redesign of the Recreation Complex is progressing very well, The preliminary drawings-are at the Recreation Office. Continued page 12 .... ROSSPORT SOCIAL: Young Lori Kelton of Windsor is visiting her grandmother Mrs. Lillian Schelling. Lori has wished for a long time that she would someday get a chance to ride a train and a Greyhound bus. Mrs. Schelling fulfilled Lori's wish by taking her to Thunder Bay on the CPR passenger train and returning by bus. Mrs. M. Alty of Minneapolis has arrived to holiday with her son Roger Alty here, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mushquash of Sioux Lookout are visiting the former's parents Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mushquash and other relatives in the area.
