Shemanski, Comptroller of LongLac Pulp and Paper Company Limited, has been appointed Comptroller and Assistant Secretary Treasurer of the Kimberly- Clark Corporation. Mr. AJR. McColl, General Accountant of Longlac Pulp and Paper Company will succeed Mr. Shemanski. Mr. Al Pattison will succeed Mr. McColl. 20 YEARS AGO - JULY 24, 1958 Capping off a creditable season of ball for the two, both Jim Moro and Eugene Petrie were selected for All-Star positions from the L.B.A. Terrace team. Moro was selected as pitcher on -the first team while Petrie got the nod for left field on the first team. 15 YEARS AGO - JULY 25th, 1963 George Maitland, who has the distinction of being the first pensioner of this Company's Mill Division, worked his last day on July 22nd. A group of his fellow workers presented George with a transistor radio and a wallet at an informal gathering just before noon. STORK CLUB: Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. Girl's Slims - $1.98. 10 YEARS AGO - JULY 25, 1968 A highway washout a few miles east of Terrace Bay which occurred last Thursday, paralyzed traffic on this portion of the Trans-Canada Highway for three days, and stranded many travellers who left points east, unaware of the event. On Thursday evening, travellers going East were being advised at Nipigon to go via Highway 11 and to go back around by Duluth. Mr. and Mrs. WF, McMillan of 37 Pine Crescent, Terrace Bay wish to announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Barbara Ann, to Mr. Donovan Lloyd Davey, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. WEEKLY REPORT Fe SWIM POOL NEWS: The August swim lessons will begin on Tuesday, August 1st, and registrations must be in the Recreation Office by 5:00 p. me on Thursday, July 27th. |t is imperative that registra- tions are made by this time and a list of classes will be post -ed on Friday, July 28th, at the Swim Pool and on the bulletin board at the Recreation Centre. A reminder that there is adult only swimming from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays of each week. PUPPET SHOW: Binkley and Doikel Puppet Show will be performing in Ter- race Bay on Thursday, July 27th, at 9:00 a.m. in the area just behind Birchwood Terrace (senior citizens home). This show is open to all ages and parents are urged to accompany their children. There is no admission charge. In case of in= clement weather, the puppet show will be held in the Terrace Bay arena at the same time. MEN'S FASTBALL: The Men's Fastball League continues at the Mill Road dia- mond with the Greenbacks taking on Rossport at 6:00 p.m. and the Terrors playing the Greenbacks at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31st. On Tuesday, August 1st, at 6:00 p.m. the Terrors play Rossport and at 8:00 p.m. the Beavers play the Greenbacks. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission charge. | NDUSTRTAL-COMMUNITY FITNESS PROGRAMME: A committee has been formed to study the possibility of operating a community and industrial fitness programme. Tests have shown that the fitness level in Ontario is lew and the programme will encourage people to become more physically ac~ tive. The Fitness Committee will engage the services of the Ont- "ario Fitness Van for a period of time in either October or November.
