GAMES NIGHT A Games Night was enjoyed at Birchwood Terrace on Tuesday evening, June 13th with participants divided up according to interest in Bridge, Whist, Cribbage, Shuffleboard and Rummoli. At the conclusion, President of Pinewood-Bi rchwood Auxiliary, May Dorland, presented prizes as follows: Cribbage High = Cathy Jo Wallwin and Blanche Speck, Booby - Gus Laurell and Hilda Hiebert; Whist High - Elva McMillan, Booby - Georgina Mackey; Bridge High - Rita Corrigan, Booby - Rose Dakin; Shuf- fleboard High - Bertha Lorh, Booby - Jane Legarde; and lastly, her own special hidden chair prize was won by Stella Gusul, a lovely begonia plant. A large group also had an entertaining} table of Rummoli. : Estelle Walluin convened the luncheon which followed. TERRACE BAY ¥T7 POLICE : DEPARTMENT COURT NEWS 17 MAY 1978: Ronald Morgan Bertin of Terrace Bay appeared in Provincial Court charged with mischief over $50.00. The charge was laid as a result of Bertin being involved in an accident then burn- ing the vehicle, Bertin received a $300.00 or 30 days impris- onment. James Malcolm Ferguson of Terrace Bay appeared in court charged with joy-riding, entered a plea of guilty and was grant -ed 6 menths probation and a conditional discharge. Richard Kennedy of Terrace Bay appeared on two separate charges of causing a disturbance by fighting and obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duties. On the first charge Kennedy was fined $100.00 and on the second, a fine of $400.00 or 30 days imprisonment. Rene Joseph Theriault appeared in court charged with causing a disturbance by fighting, entered a plea of guilty and was | fined $200.00 or 10 days in jail. Joseph Patrick Hale appeared in court on an impaired driving charge and was fined $400.00 or 20 days as well as being sus- pended from driving for 3 months. At the regular meeting of the United Paperworkers Interna- tional Union - Local 665, Betty Cruickshank was presented with a money tree by Union members. Betty has recently retired after having served as plant nurse for the past twenty-five years. GRADUATES Geralyne Margaret Waghorn, graduated on May 27th, with her Bachelor of Education diploma from University of Thunder Bay. She is taking a course in Special Education for the retarded during the summer months. Cynthia Anne Waghorn graduated June 17, 1978 from Confeder -ation College with a degree in Nursing. Cl LEGION HOLDS CHILDRENS FILMS The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 223, Terrace Bay, have invited Mr. Peter Mann from Confederation College to show films on Saturday, June 24th from 10 a.m. to noon. "- The Legion has donated the hall for these films and the suggested age for children is eight and up. There will be no charge for these films which consist of: "Beaver Country", "Survival, Fire Making and Shelters","Paddle to the Sea", "The Trail Ride", "Fine Feathers", "The Voyageur" and "Space Around the Earth", There will be two or three intemissions during the showing.
