Meyer, the director, installed the new slate of officers at the April meeting of the Schreiber Catholic Wom- en's League: Lorette McParland, past president; Kay Stefurak, president; Marjorie Spacek, first vice president; Therese Stortini, second vice president; Irene Gillen, third vice pres- ident; Cathy Lemieux, treasurer; Irene Bortuski, corresponding secretary; Phyllis McParland, recording secretary. Mrs. McParland, who opened the meeting, read her annual report, which is to be presented at the Diocesan Convention in May and thanked the members for their assistance and co-opera- tion during her term of office. Correspondence included letters of thanks from the Sisters of St. Joseph, North Bay; the T,V. Program, Church Today and the family in India, supported by this C.W.L. The treasurer's report by Marjorie Spacek showed the St. Patrick's Day tea and bake sale to have been most successful. The new slate of officers was presented by Norah McGuire. Kay Stefurak then took over the meeting, asking for the members! assistance. She reminded members of the Mass for Our Lady of Good Counsel on April 26th and of the daily Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. during the month of May, with Valerie Bourk assisting as leader. A new C,W.Ls handbook was placed on order. Plans were made for the First Communion breakfast to be held for some twenty-eight children and their parents, on June 4th. Mary Valentino, Theresa Power, Leanne Beauparlant and Sister Marvel offered to assist. A donation was made to the Cystic Fibrosis work and to the Cancer Society. Ya Their penny auction date was set for Sunday afternoon; April 30th. Kay Stefurak will convene this project. Wendy Martin volunteered to convene the annual canvas for the Salvation Army. A salad set was received as a gift from Eileen Lidkea of Thunder Bay. It was reported the United Church Women will cater for the auxiliary's birthday party dinner on May 20th. The Northern Lites will play for the dance which follows the dinner. : Addie Beaulieu was initiated into membership by Georgina Davis, president. . It was agreed that again this year, the one hundred dollar bursary will be presented to students in the High School, contingent on their continuing their education. Hostesses for the May meeting will be Margaret Handel, Ruth Hiller, Myra Holmes and Lorraine Huard. SCHREIBER SOCIAL: : Schreiber is very proud of Robert (Bob) Stewart, author International, dealing with the history and wildlife of Canada's last fron= tier area, and published in six different languages. Bob is a native of Schreiber. Another native of Schreiber, Miss Dorothy Arnot, who re=- tired in 1975 after being with the Wellesley Hospital, Toron- to for thirty-five years is to receive one of the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medals. Presently, Miss Arnot is Archivist for the hospital and active in its support. Her friends in = Schreiber are very proud of this latest honour conferred : upon Miss Arnot. 4 NOTICE DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME The Council of the Corporation of The !
