WEEKLY REPORT ¥ CHINESE COOKING COURSE: Registrations are now being accepted for the Chinese Cooking Course offered by Confederation College in conjunction with the Recreation Department. The course will be held in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre on Monday, Tuesday, Wed- nesday and Thursday, May 29th, 30th, 31st and June 1st, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Fee for this course is $25.00 and Mr. Kim Lee of Thunder Bay will be the instructor. Further details are not available at this early date but we recommend early registration as the maximum number is 30 per- sons and registration is based on a "fipst come, first served? basis. Call the Recreation Office at 825-3542 and leave your nane and phone number is you wish to register, ; CRAFT GROUP WORKSHOP: A workshop will take place on Friday, April 14th, from 7:00 to 10:00 pem., and Saturday, April 15th, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Lake Superior High School, Schreiber campus (rear entrance). This will be a multi workshop in crewel, petit point and bargello. Helen Rhodes will be instructing this workshop. Penziwol rink of Thunder Bay won over the Ken Johns- ton rink of Terrace Bay to take first place in the first event at the 30th annual Men's Bonspiel held at the Terrace Bay Curl- ing Club, April 6th - Oth. Gary Gusul of Terrace Bay defeated Alf Child's rink to take third place in the first event, Terrace Bay took three spots in the second event: R. Hopper rink 1st place, R, Roberts 3rd and Jack Chapman 4th. Second place was taken by Les Dafoe of Marathon. A. Jansson's team came first in the third event with Be Harper of Terrace Bay as runner-up, Third and fourth places were taken by H, Lawson of Marathon and B. This group takes in all communities in Northwestern Ontario. Representing Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport was Mrs. Margaret Puttock, Chairman of the local Branch. The meeting emphasized the Society's aim to double the num- ber of Rheumatologists in Canada by 1981. Canada is considered to have one of the best arthritis control programs in the world, The Society's goal in the next few years will be to develop enough Rheumatologists to have one in about 29 more communi t= ies by 1981. This would make excellent arthritis care avail- able to about 807 of Canada's population. Speaking to the delegates, Dr. Barry Koehler, Rheumatologi st, said, "The progress made by The Arthritis Society in the 30 years since it was founded on March 15, 1948, is something which should make all of your voluntzers proud', : ul The meeting was chaired by Region Chariman Mrs. Ruth West- cott and Co-Chairman Mr. James P, Douglas, both of Thunder Bay. tdees and lan Clark's team received prizes St. Martin's Parish has a new priest, Father MN, Murtagh from Thunder Bay, Father Murtagh (pronounced "Murta") came to Canada in 1947 from his homeland of Ireland. He first lived in Kamloops, B.C. and from there he relocated to Thunder Bay, where he was assistant pastor at the Corpus Christi Church, He was also involved in the Team for Spiritual Renewal in Thunder Bay for five years, We welcome Father Murtagh to the communi ty.
