PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS SCHREIBER PARKS & RECREATION COLUMN CONFEDERATION COLLEGE PROGRAMS: On Feb. 10th, 1llth, 12th, 1978 there will be a cross country clinic in Schreiber. It will start Fri. evening at 7 p.m. in the low- er hall of the Town Office: please use the side entrance. The program length is one ) weekend, with a total of fifteen hours. 1 For those renting equipment, your height, weight, shoe size are required so the proper equipment can be brought for you. Register before Friday, Feb. 3, 1978 at the Recreation Office. We need a minumum of 12, maximum of 20. @* ° : Weaving has been set up tentatively for the week of Feb. 27th to March 3, 1978. The pro- gram will run one full week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lower hall of the Schreiber Town Hall. Please call the recreation office if in -terested, all looms are supplied. Basic Cake Decorating and Chinese Cooking are being set up and are tentatively set for March, 1978. : ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURLING: The schedule is in its second full week. The leaders at this time are the rinks of Art Roen, Jeanine St. Jean, Marlene Speziale, Chris Miller, Richard Gionet, Frank Costa. The schedule runs Monday and Wednesday at the Curling Club from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to go and watch, also, if pos--- sible to do some supervision. NEW ARENA UPDATE: There will be a meeting of all persons int- erested in canvassing, on Mon. Jan. 16, 1978 at 7 p.m. in the lower hall of the Town Office. The tenders will be in the papers from Jan. 111, 1978 to Feb. 8, 1978 at which time those contractors submitting bids will have their tenders opened and costs revealed. . The land has been cleared and soil tests completed at the new site. Additional lands have been secured from Hacoquil Construction thus giving us further land for future develop -ments. Canadian Pacific Railway has been very co- operative in setting up a payroll deduction for those employees wishing to give inthis way. Employees will be approached in the near future. We remind citizens of Schreiber that they . do not have to wait until a canvasser calls at their door to make donations. This will be Phase.l of a 3 year continuing program with emphasis and input on the types of operations and needs in Northwest- ern Ontario. Students will be exposed to such areas as Food Service, Office Proce- dures, Maintenance and Repair, Guiding, Bush Plane Operation, First Aid, Recreation, Housekeeping, Support Enterpiises, Etcetera. The content of this course will, whenever possible, be divided into modules of various lengths in time.
