PAGE 16 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 23, 1977 Twenty-three members of On 1586 Schreiber/ Terrace Bay travelled to Thunder Bay on the weekend of November 12 - 13, for the annual Tops Rally Day, where they saw their 1976 chapter Queen, Chris Dunham crowned Queen for the tri-area region. Chris who lost 71 lbs. to goal won over all the other chapters from Manitouwadge to Kengra. Before joining Tops, Chris managed to lose over 30 lbs., so actual- ly she has lost over 100 lbs. She was crowned by last year's Queer, Edythe Cosgrove, who is also from On: 1586. There was also a prize awarded for the best costume and for the fifth consecutive year, On 1586 took first prize. This is a record of which we are all quite proud as our chapter is only five years old. : June Corcoran, area supervisor from Toronto presented her proficiency award for the first time and once again our chapter won. Consider -ing she supervises 95 chapters in Ontario this was indeed quite an honour. Individual members that were honoured are as follows: 40 lb. plus losers - Lurleen Blais and Kay Bouchard; 50 lb. plus losers - Dot Coupal and Edythe Cosgrove; 70 lb. plus losers -- Chris Dunham; 100 lb. plus losers - Helen Dooley. Alumni Kops - 1 year - Mary Winters and Chris Dunham; 2 years - Yvonne LeClair and Edythe Cosgrove; 3 years -- Helen Dooley; 4 years - Dot Coupal and Lillian Sechesky. Miss Terri-Ann Bouchard, who was the Prov- incial winner in her division (8) was also re- cognized. Terri-Ann was also honoured as our chapter's best loser for 1976. Blanche Theriault was our only K. I.W. -in-waiting). Barb Strasser, a former member and now of Tops Rainy River, joined us for the week-end. Bev Legault of Thunder Bay, formerly from Terrace Bay, also. joined the group. (Kops MEETING OF SCHREIBER CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE The Schreiber Catholic Women's League met at Holy Angels' Parish Centre on November 13th with Mrs. Lorette McParland in the chair. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Correspondence included: a letter from Jack Stokes M.P.P.; from The Church To-day TV; a resume of the Regional Meeting held in Ter- race Bay and thank - you notes. : The treasurer reported that a $25.00 dona- tion will be sent to the Church To-day pro- gramme. Father Meer expressed thanks to the ladies November 12th bazaar and tea. Church Life convenor, Sister Marvel report- ed a good turn out for the month of October daily rosary and asked members to remember the Holy souls during this month. She also report -ed on sympathy; Mass, get-well and baby cards sent out. Lorette McParland thanked Father Meyer for the Benediction and presentation of 25 year pins to nineteen members on October 30th. also thanked Rena Ross for placing the C.W.L. wreath at the cenotapy on Remembrance Day. Members were in favour of each contributing $2.00 towards Christmas gifts for our family in India instead of buying exchange gifts for our own members. It was decided that a donation be made for a gift for the Senior Citizen's at Birchwood Terrace. The following members offered to sup -ply. lunch and go to Birchwood for the present ~ation: Irene Moorey, Liz Prescott, Lorette McParland, Sister Marvel, Sister: Dorothy, Carla Maronese and Mary Valentino. A $25.00 donation will be made towards the cost of materials for the young girls crafts club. ; The meeting adjourned. Lunch was served by Leanne Beauparlant, Mary Valentino and Carla Maronese.
