PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 16, 1977 REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY AT ST. MARTIN SCHOOL students, teachers and over sixty parents, participated in a moving service commemorating those who served and those who died for us in two World Wars. Mr. Honore Bouchard and Mr. John Falzetta represented the Legion. The assembly, held on 1977 11 10 included relevant readings, poetry, choral speaking, singing and the placing of a wreath from each class at a cenotaph specially constructed for the occasion. A special guest, Mr. Charles Wise, played the Last Post and Reveille. The call of the lone trumpet made the significance of Remembrance Day more-real for all in attendance. SCHREIBER BUS FOR OVERTURE CONCERTS There will be a bus leaving from the Chimo Club in Schreiber at 7: :15 on Friday, November 18th so that Overture Concert members who do not have tramsportation to the High School in Terrace Bay will not have to miss the Western Savoyard. The bus will return to the Chimo Club after the performance. Since this bus is being sponsored by the Overture Concerts As- sociation, those who wish to use the bus are requested to show Overture membership cards when boarding. There will be no cost to 'members. CHURCH NEWS: On Sunday, November 6, 1977 the Community Church held a very successful pot luck supper. Many new families and members from the Schrei- ber United Church attended. A delicious sel- ection of food was brought in by the ladies. Following the supper a happy sing-a-long . was led by Rev. Walter Gibbon of Nipigon who also entertained accompanying himself on the guitar. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 223: TERRACE BAY HELPS HOSPITAL BUILDING FUND On Friday, November 1lth, 1977 at the' An- nual Dinner of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Mr. J. Falzetta - President of the Branch and Mrs. St. Louis, President of the Legion Auxiliary presented a cheque of $3,856. to the Hospital Building Fund. Margaret Put- tock, Chairman of the Hospital Building Fund accepted the cheque on behalf of the Board of Governors of the McCausland Hospital. In thanking the Legion members, Mrs. Put- | tock explained some of the costs to be encount -ered and that actual donations plus those promised reached the half-way mark of the com- munities cost responsibilities. . This cheque will pay for the cost of four (4) (2 semi-private rooms) patient beds and will be acknowledged as the gift of Branch 223 by a plague on the door. There are still some single beds not yet sponsored. If you or your group wish to spon- sor the cost of a patient bed please phone Margaret Puttock at 825-3562 or Laura Legault (Administration Office) 825-3695. Unfortunately - over the past year and a half - due to .inflation - the cost of a patient bed is now $1200.00 (This includes all furnish -ings necessary for one patient). f Hospital Building Fund Committee TERRACE BAY ny POLICE ~~ DEPARTMENT POLICE REPORT 6 TO 13 NOVEMBER 1977: The Terrace Bay Police Force reports a re-= latively quiet week of November 6 to 13 with only thirteen occurrences registered. Police are investigating a theft of a radio from R.J. Ball electric, which was stolen from their offices on the expansion site. This radio is a ground to air receiver and trans- mitter valued at $3,000.00 During the week police also attended two . family domestic disputes and three charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act. Police attended a shooting incident in which a young man is in critical condition in Thunder Bay hospital suffering from head in= juries. : December lst to 7th is Safe Driving Week in Canada.
