He has written such well-known plays as The Threepenny Opera, The Caucasian Chalk Circle and Mother Courage. Brecht is famous for his innovations in style. He has made popular such terms as alienation effect, political theatre and epic theatre. He is a writer of black comedy and of Marx- ist didacticism. His plays usually show people as aggressive beasts of prey or as their suf- fering victims. The didactic elements of his Plays tend to be harsh satires of what Brecht considers to be the abuses and perversities of the capitalist system. The Exception and The Rule was presented by the Theatre Hour Compniay, a talented acting group based in Toronto. A meeting of the Schreiber-Terrace Bay and District Association for the Mentally Retard- ed was held on Wednesday, October 26, 1977. An Historical resume of this Association way submitted to O.A.M.R., to be placed in a pub- lication commemorating the O.A.M.R. Twenty- Fifth Anniversary in 1978. : Reports were made on the Fall Fair, held in Schreiber and Phantom Bake Sale held in Terrace Bay. Reports were received from the Advisory Protective Service. Discussions were held regarding transporta- tion of the pupils to the Caroline McMorland School and the Board allowance. These itmes are to be checked.-before the next meeting. The Poster Contest will be held again this ° ear. Chairman is to be Mrs. Georgette Ceb- rario. It was reported that Qualified Speak- ers will be available to schools and clubs should they be interested. | A decision was rmade regarding Christmas ty in the Caroline McMorland School. Mrs. Art LeBlanc was appointed the Chair- man of the Flower of Hope Campaign for this year. The meeting was then adjourned.
