NOVEMBER 9, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 23 PASTORS STUDY Grace Baptist Church - Bayview Street, Schreiber WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE? "For where your treesurs is, there will your heart be also" Matt. 6:21 If you were to ask e& group of people what they considered to be treasure you would receive various answers. For the most part those questioned would refer to something of a material . nature as treasure, . "w In Matt, 6:I9-24 the Lord Jesus speaks of treasures and mas- ters, He has shown us two types of treasures and two masters Lord Jesus tells us not to lay up this material treasure, "lay not up for yourselves tressures upon earth." He is not unreasonable in this command for He fully explains that "mouth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal." In contrast He speaks of the accumulation of treasure in heaven, These treasures are not perishable but will be enjoyed throughout the endless ages of time. think of treasure ths word precious often comes to our mind. This word precious is used in ths Bible to describe the Christian Faith, In I Peter the Christian faith is described as "being much more precious than gold". The most precious treasure a per=- son may gain is the assurance of the forgiveness or remiss- lon of sins. God's Word the Bible plainly states "the wages of sin is death" and that "all have sinned", Cod also said "without sheding of blood is no remission", The Christian is told in I Peter I:I8-I9 he is "not redsemed with corrup- tile things, as silver and gold--but with the precious blood of Christ." In the light of God's Word the Bible, we have seen two trees- ures, one earthly one heavenly. One wrought of self effort and perishable the other wrought by anothers efforts and everlasting, The heart of man must be fixed on one treasure or the other, This leads us to the two masters mentioned above, lord Jesus in the Master of the Heavenlies, one may enter His Kingdom by repenting and accepting Him, "that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, end shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Satan iz the master of this world system In God's Word Sat- an is called the "god of this world," One may remain in his power and eventually be cast "into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels", by rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ, The Bible says, "he that believeth not is condemned * already, becauss he hath not believed in ths name of the only begotten Son of God," This unbelief is caused by Satan "the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not." "Where is your treasure "Which master are you serving" if your heart is fixed upon material things snd the message of "the Cross of Christ is offense to you, look up for the day of redemption draweth nigh.
