PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS RECREATION DEPT. fF WEEKLY REPORT TERRACE BAY YOUTH BASKETBALL PROGRAMME : As a result of the interest and volunteer work that Mr. Ted Hanley is prepared to give - (along with others who will be acknowledged at a later date), a Terrace Bay Youth Basketball League will be offered to players age 9 to 12. The facilities at St. Martin's School will be available for this programme and please fefer to the bottom of this page concerning details for anyone interested in registering for this . programme . TERRACE BAY MEN'S BASKETBALL PROGRAMME : Mr. Ted Hanley also has expressed interest in forming a Terrace Bay Men's Basketball team. This particular programme is designed for adults 18 years of age and over. Please refer to page 10 for further details. 'RED CROSS SWIM CRESTS NOW AVAILABLE: Any swimmer who passed a Red Cross category during the Swim Pool programme this summer may pick up their appropriate cards or crests at the Recreation Office during office hours. FALL AND WINTER SPECIAL PROGRAMME POSSIBILITIES The Recreation Office has submitted the fol- lowing requests to Confederation College for possible special programmes this fall and win- ter: Women and Money workship$ Women and the Law workship, cake decorating course and a textilercourse. These programmes will be of- fered and advertised dependent upon response from Confederation College. A proposed North Shore 10-week art course which has been in the making for the past 6 months will now definitely be offered, begin- ning the month of October. Special advertise- ments on this programme will appear in the Terrace Bay News. - WINTER ACTIVITIES: A number of Terrace Bay organizations will be scheduling special registration -days for their particular programmes (i.e., figure skating, minor hockey, intermediate hockey, ringette, curling, bowling, etc.) and the Recreation Office would like to remind all cit- izens that they should keep programme .registra- tion days and times in mind so .that they avoid missing out in registering for a winter programme. Anyone in the community requesting more in- formation. on the operation of winter groups and drganizations, please feel free to call the Recreation Office at 825-3542 during office SEPTEMBER 28, 1977 hours and we will do our best to get the infor -mation to you. WINTARIO AND YOU: The Recreation Office wishes to remind groups, organizations and individuals that up- dated resource information is available at the ~ Recreation Office during office hours which outlines details on how you can apply for Win- tario Grants. Subsidies through Wintario are available for such things as fitness programmes z equipment assistance for teams, programmes for the arts, programmes for recreational resour- ces. Why not drop in to the Recreation Of- fice and pick up this literature so that you may become more acquainted with the Wintario programme. COMING EVENTS : Every Wednesday - Men's Cottey basketball, 7 to 9 p.m., St. Martin's School Gym. All men over 18 years of age are welcome.
