FEBRUARY 23, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS : PAGE 7 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT The Terrace Bay Police Department was cal- led to investigate seventeen occurrences during the period February 14 to 20, 1977. On February 16th, three young persons were charged with public intoxication while walk- ing home from a party and were subsequently charged under the liquor licence act. On February 18th, a juvenile was apprehend -ed with a quantity of liquor and on the same date, four other youths were found to be con- suming liquor and'charges are pending. On February 19th, a window was broken at the Recreation Centre and a charge of wilful damage will be laid against a local man. The fender light on the police cruiser was damaged and a charge of mischief is being laid. One person was charged with impaired driving after he drove a back hoe into .the side of a trail- er at the trailer park. A charge of failing to provide a sample of breath is also being laid in this matter. On the above date a beer bottle was thrown at a young snowmobiler at the rear of the Recreation Centre resulting in the driver receiving a broken face shield. Investigation continues into this matter. On February 19th, a complaint of assault was re- ceived and this matter was cleared with no charges being laid. COURT, NEWS: February 17, 1977 Ernest Theriault was found guilty of break enter and theft and received a suspended sen= tence for two years and two years probation. This charge was laid in connection with a break and enter at the Recreation Centre where a quantity of cigarettes were taken. Leonard Plourde of 146 Birch was found guilty of having the care and control of a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired by alcohol. Mr. Plourde received a fine of $500.00 or 50 days in the District Jail. James Wilfred Beddard was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Mr. Beddard was awarded a fine of $500.00 or 50 days in the District Jail. Norman Harold Brock of Brantford, Ontario was found guilty on a charge of having the care and control of a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired. Daniel Arsenault of 74 Hudson Drive was found guilty of possession of a narcotic and was awarded an absolute discharge.
