PAGE 16 TERRACE BAY NEWS JANUARY 12, 1977" gE LEMIEUX : 3 ~The funeral Mass for the late Mrs. George Lemieux, whose death at the age of 89, occur- red on December 28, 1976 was conducted on December 31st in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber, by Father F.J. Meyers. Ted Ross, grandson of the deceased was the organist for the service. The pall bearers, all grandsons, were Lorne Bourke, Gene Ross, Doug Ross, Gordon Ross, Larry ST. Jean and Leon St. Jean. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. Mrs. Lemieux was predeceased by her husband in 1937, a daughter, Olive, Mrs. Cecil Snyder of Ottawa in 1967, a granddaughter and great grandson. Her immediate survivors are three daughters '- Rena, Mrs. Borden Ross, Valerie, Mrs. Larry Bourke and Emelienne, Mrs. John St. Jean of Schreiber; one son - Gerard of Burnaby, B.C.; one stepson Arthur Lemieux of Schreiber and two 'stepdaughters' - Jeanette, Mrs. Oscar Paradis of Sudbury and Marie, Mrs. J.L. Stinson of Sarnia. There are also, thirty-seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mrs. Lemieux, born Emilie Boivin, in Rimouski, Quebec came from there to Schreiber immediately after her marriage to Mr. Lemieux in 1918. With her vibrant personality, she at once established her own particular niche in the town - faithful to her church and friends, and with a particular enjoyment and involvement with witty comments on town affairg which will leave a void. Due to failing health Mrs. Lemieux had been in the Birchwood Terrace Home since March 1974, where her old friends were happy to visit her. ' In Addition to the many. freinds from Schreiber, Rossport and Terrace Bay attending the funeral were the following relatives = Gerard Lemieux, Burnaby, B.C.; Mrs. Jeanette Paradis, Sudbury; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cocks, Thunder Bay and Mr. and Mrs. Len Munro from Ottawa. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN ELECT OFFICERS The Schreiber United Church Women held their January meeting on the 5th preceding it with a potluck supper. Mrs. Beth Macadam welcomed two guests, Mrs. Frank Walker of Schreiber and Mrs. Mary Ellen Bouchie of Kamloops, B.C. Mrs. Helen Wallace read the Scripture and Mrs. Macadam an article on the meaning of the New Year. 3 Mrs. Winnie Clemens read correspondence which included Christmas® cards from former i Miia members now living elsewhere and several notes £ of appreciation and acknowledgement from the Hi John Milton Society for the Blind for a dona- | tion sent to them. = A request for assistance from the Prairie i Christian Training Centre in Saskatchewan was filed for further discussion. Members agreed to pay the annual allocation 3 fee and also half of the expense bill presented * by the United Church and Anglican Sunday schools. Miss Gwen Hadley gave full reports of the recent Christmas tea and bazaar. Mrs. Annie ..
