I9 NO. 46 NOVEMBER 24, I976 20¢ PER COPY LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION ~ APPROVES SCHOOL TRIPS The Lake Superior Board of Education Meeting No. 13/76 was held on Monday, November 15, 1976 at the Marathon High School. The Minutes of Meeting No. 12/76 and Meeting No. 46 of the Caroline McMorland School's Advisory Committee were approved. The Caroline McMorland School's Advisory Committee was asked to get further information about special supervision of the pupils of the Caroline McMorland School should they use the new swimming pool in Marathon. : The minutes of The French Language Advisory Committee Meeting held November 1, 1976 were acknowledged as received. : The minutes of the Maintenance, Property Sales and Purchases Commit- tee held October 26, were acknowledged as received. The List of Disbursements for the month of October, 1976, in the tot- al amount of $570,119.33, were approved. The following appointments to teaching staff, at salary according to schedule, were approved: Mrs. Sonja Brend as Grade 3 teacher in Lake Superior Public School, effective October 25, 1976; Mr. John G. Robart as Year 1 teacher in Marathon High School, effective November 2,1976. The resignation of Mr. Doug Talarico as Marathon Public. School Trustee was accepted, with regret, effective October 31, 1976. The "Education Beyond The Classroom" Report by Mr. Kelly was received and discussed. Mr. Kelly and his Committee were thanked for their ef- forts, 3 ' Saturday Meeting for Board was discussed. It was decided to have this item as a Notice of Motion for the next meeting in December. The Board approved the following school trips: Manitouwadge Public School - Grade 8 students to Toronto, May 28 - June 4, 1977; Lake Super- ior Public School - Grade 8 students to Southern Ontario, June 6 - June 12, 1977, a A report on the Marathon Building Project's financial status was given by the Director of Education. It was confirmed too that the Industrial Arts and Home Economics Programs are running satisfactorily. ;
