Following the dinner the present program and policies of the Board was outlined, to the members of the two Councils. Also, the Board discussed with members some of the plans for future services to Seniors in the Thunder Bay District. The present policy of the Ministry of Community and Social Ser-* vices is to find ways and means to assist Sen- iors in their own communities and, he is look- ing for ideas from anyone working with Seniors. Presently, there is pressure on Pinewood Court which will possibly force an addition to this Home prior to proceeding with small re- sidential care Homes in Nipigon and Geraldton. The Board was very pleased with the oppor- tunity to talk directly to Council members about their work with Senior Citizens. Mem- bers attending from Marathon were: Mr. Gordon Chisholm and Mr. Bill Pascoe; from Manitou- wadge were: Mr. Carson Hoy, Mr. Arden Juby, Mr. Gil Pouliot and Mr. Serge Desjardins. The Chairman, Mr. Alex Daneff, thanked Man- itouwadge Council for inviting them and he was _also very pleased with the way Board members and Council participated in an open discussion. The next Board meeting will be at Pinewood Court on Friday, November 26 when Municipali- ties from the Western area will be invited. R.C.S.S. BOARD MEET IN MANITOUWADGE The Eighth regular Board meeting of The North of Superior R.C.S.S. Board was held on Saturday, October 23, 1976, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes School, Manitouwadge. School closing times during the year were approved as follows: Christmas - 12:00 noon, December 22, for all schools: Winter Break - 12:00 noon, March 18, with the exception of Nakina, which will close at noon of March 31; Summer Holidays = June 30, 1977, 10:30 a.m., for all schools. The position of secretary to the Director will be advertised locally and provincially. Mrs. Finn was granted a leave without pay from March 28, 1977 to April 1, 1977, with a letter to go to her from Mr. Gillen. The Board will proceed with the transfer of two additional lots in Block "A" at Nakina as per shared agreement previously contracted by the Nakina Public and Separate School Boards. The Director, through the Principals, will ensure that a meaningful Remembrance Day Pro- gram be held in the schools and that the Prin- cipals involve Legion members in planning this day.
