NOTES FROM YOUR HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The recent Directors meeting was attended by the retiring District Director, Mr. Ab Farrow, who has been an active member for thirty years. The Directors were appreciative of a farewell message and poem from Mr. Farrow as well as sound advice given regarding the need for involvment and education of our mem- bers and ways of widening the scope of our Society. The membership drive recruited 324 senior and 22 junior members and the Directors wish to thank the canvassers who did and excellent job covering the town. Any member interested in attending the Judging School in Thunder Bay please contact Secretary (Robbie Velanoff) for application forms. Deadline is July 10. A Fall premium will be delivered to members later in the summer. - The Plant Rummage Sale was again a success. Demand exceeded supply so please make a note to donate your extra perennials or annuals next year. Some copies of a new publication "Canada Green" are available to members who may be interested. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Benoit Beauchamp of Terrace Bay, a boy on June 23rd. RALPH COE: Mr. Harry Coe recently accompanied his son, Ralph, to London where they at -tended the Spring Convocation Exercis- es at the University of Western Ontario. Ralph graduated from Western with his Honours Bachelor of Science majoring in zoology. THE JOB SCENE: A PEP TALK So you want to be a heart surgeon but the only job you can find is washing windows. Take it! Good, steady employment for students this summer is at a premium. The jobs you wish you had have been gobbled up by your friends months ago. The old line "1'1i..do anything but ..." will definitely assist you in being unemployed and staying unemployed. Jobs at the Ministry of Natural Resources and the mill have been filled. The highway con- struction jobs seem to work on a supply and demand basis. If you are not on the scene ear ~-ly in the morning, every morning, your chan- ces of employment there are slim.
