Mrs. Mary Clare Kennedy then declared all offices vacant and turned the chair to Mrs. Peggy Regis, chairman of the Nominations Com- mittee. Mrs. Edna Ramsay acted as secretary. The nominating committee were Mrs. Bernice Pytyck, Mrs. Georgia Lapenski and Mrs. Peggy Regis. Mrs. Regis presented this slate of of- ficers: President - Mrs. M. LEGION BR. 223 MIXED CURLING BONSPIEL With the apologies of the Sports Officer of the Royal Canadian Legion for the delay in this article, he would now like to publish the statistics of the mixed curling bonspiel held on February 28. We had real good local support for this spiel. Mr. Jim Mikus, donated the trophies for the winners of "A" event, financial support] came from Montreal Engineering and Commenwealth Construction. The curling was followed by a lovely smorgasbord supper, and a full evening of dancing. Following are the winners of "A" and "B" events and runner-up in each group: "A" Group winners was Dave Desrosiers rink of Marg Lie- brock, Leon Theriault and Evelyn Falzetta. Runner-up in "A" group was C. Koski's rink of Muriel Bartlett, Sax Lundberg and Reg Payette. "B" group winners were George Caron's rink of Betty Bouchard, Emil Hamman and Barbara Pay- ette. "B" group runner-up winners were Harry Bartlett's rink of Dene Clancy, Forrest Notwell and Peggy Regis. LITERARY CONTEST: Continued The following poem submitted by Maureen Haas, age twelve, grade seven of St. Martin Separate School, won first place in the Inter- mediate level at the District level. Maureen was presented with a certificate and a cheque: from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 223. Her poem will now be submitted to the Domin- ion level to be judged.
