Mr. Houston explained that the hospital ran on a line by line budget and not, as the Ministry led us to believe, on a Global bud- get. The audit report by Thorne Riddell and Co. was accepted. Mrs. Jan McEwen - Committee Chairman of the Development Committee -- spoke of the new hospital - to date - and the frustations en- countered, due to the "red tape" thrown up by the Ministry. Mrs. McEwen had display draw- ings of the exterior and interior of the new hospital rooms, and "write up" presentations made to the Ministry. Planning of the new facility in cooperation with the Architectures - G.B.R. Associates, research into projected workloads, traffic flow, future needs, convenience of one de- partment to another, utilization by the com- munity with statistics to back up our reg- uests has been arduous, stated Mrs. McEwen. We have just completed the Functional Pro- gramme for Ministry approval. Mrs. McEwan thanked the members of the Development Committee: Mr. R. Wills, Dr. Adey, Mrs. D. Rummery and Mr. R. Bray. Mrs. Margaret Puttock - Chairman of Public Relations and Building Fund explained that one of the main duties of the P.R. Department was to inform the public of what was taking place in the hospital and with the Board of Governors. Mrs. Puttock drew the attention _ of the audience to the distributed sheet which showed how money had been obtained - to date - for the building fund and stressed the key word - Donation. The fact that Kimberly ° Clarks pledge (of up to $109,000) and that of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (of up to $4,500) is based on donated monies means a great deal. to our success in raising our required share. The second "hand-out" sheet showed costs of a single bedroom and a four bedroom. Through the use of the overhead projector, the plan for these bedrooms were shown on the screen. Mr. Roland Wills - Chairman of Property a and Grounds reported on the inadequancies of the present hospital and the repairs and ad- ditions made to try to help improve the work- ing conditions and safety factors. Mr. Wills stated that large sums of money would be required to modernize both the buil- ding and the plant. This can not be justified as despite the installation of a sprinkler system the building is still on the Ontario Fire Marshall's Condemned list. There is a B. She thank -ed those who knitted for the Tuck Shop and ] those who worked at the Tuck Shop. Mrs. Maca- dam thanked Rena McAdam for caring for two cident and the mother hospitalized. On behalf of the Auxiliary, Mrs. Macadam presented a cheque of $2000.00 to the Building Fund. HE Dr. Blair . Croll - Chief of Medical Staff : reported on the changes made in 1975 - two new doctors (Dr. Croll and Dr. Wilkes) =- Dr. Adey' | resignation as Chief of Medical Staff and the | appointment of Dr. Croll to this position; - full admitting privileges granted to Dr. Spa= cek; - Dr. McCausland's office changed into ani emérgency room; - Laboratory facilities have been modified to give expanded service; - a | part time X-ray technician was employed and an § attempt was made to have one person manage bo X-ray and lab work.
