Senior Workshop - continued from page 1 ..... further clarify the role of the Senior Volun- teer in Service in the Thunder Bay District and to expand the base, of the Senior Volun=- teer in their respective communities, by fur- ther utilizing existing community resources. The first evening of the workshop included an introduction and welcome, an outline of the workshop schedule and a social get-togeth -er. Mr. Ron Douglas, Community Consultant for the Addiction Research Foundation, acted as a group moderator for the main part of Thurs- day's programme, with Mr. Richard Armstrong, Area Manager for the Northwestern Ontario Housing Corporation, speaking during the lat- er part of the day. On Friday, March 26, the workshop conclud- ed with representatives from local offices covering the topics of Income Tax, Guarant- eed Annual Income, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Unemployment Insurance, Veter- ans Allowance and Pensions and the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. The Senior Volunteer in Service has a very important role to play within the community and the Senior Citizen's Branch feels that if the Senior Citizen cannot meet the need, then the need itself cannot be met. TERRACE BAY WINTER CARNIVAL SCHOOL ICE SCULPTURING RESULTS Junior Classes: - no entries. Senior Classes: St. Martin's Grade Five for Soi aR a their sculpture of the Winter Carnival King and Queen. The judging this year was very difficult and all the competing sculptures were well done. The scultpure topics included a curling i rock, a fireplace, Sesame Street characters, snowmobiles, figure skates, the Greenpeace Seal Mission, and Winter Carnival buttons. Special mention is made to the sculptures and teachers from St. Martin's who braved Friday's snow storm and completed their sculp- tures in the Winter Carnival spirit.
