PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS MARCH 3, 1976 LOCAL CURLING TEAM AT PROVINCIAL PLAYDOWNS Recently four ladies from the Terrace Bay curling Club went to Guelph for the Ontario Ladies Provincial Playdowns. The team con- sisted of Anne Latour, skip; Dene Clancy, second; Mary Hale, third; Mary Claire Kennedy, lead. d The ladies had good games but failed to win. It was an experience for them all to represent North Western Ontario and they thought that all the telegrams, messages and good wishes they received from friends in Terrace Bay made it a worthwhile effort. ~ LEGION ANNUAL MIXED CURLING BONSPIEL Saturday, February 28th saw some good cur- ling in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223 annual mixed curling bonspiel. Winners of the "A" event was the Dave Des- rosiers rink with the Charles Koski rink as runner-up. : Winners cf the "B" event was the George Caron rink with the Harry Bartlett rink as runner-up. Following a full day of curling at the - Terrace Ray Curling Club the curlers held a smorgasbord supper at the Legion Hall, follow- ed by a dance with music by the Commisso Bro- thers band from Schreiber. The trophies were donated and presented by Jim Mikus (Shell 0il) Terrace Bay and the prizes were donated by Montreal Engineering and Commonwealth Construction. These were presented by the bonspiel Chairman, Howard Solly. 3 RUBY REBEKAH MEETING Mrs. Norma Fummerton N.G. and Mrs. Georgina Davis V.G. presided over the regular meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge 279 on Wednesday, Feb- ruary 25th, 1976. Mrs. Margaret Tees of Sincerity Lodge 157 from. Chapleau was welcomed as a visitor. ~ Mrs. Davis reported for the Sick and Vis- iting Committee. Cards were sent to Jean Stitt and F. Harness and Mr. and Mrs. T. Whent Mrs. G. Hamilton, Convenor gave the report of the By-Laws Committee. Mrs. Mavis Slater and Mrs. gave financial reports. Communications included donations for the Bakeless Bake Sale from out of town members. A donation was made to the I.0.0.F. Educ--- ational Foundation. A "Musical White Elephant" will be held following the next meeting on March 10. Mem- bers are to bring two prizes. Helen Wallace HOLY ANGEL'S C.W.L. MEETING The regular monthly meeting of Holy Angel's Catholic Women's League was held on Sunday, February 8. Sister Marvel gave the scripture reading. Father Meyer spoke on Bishop Gallagher's funeral and the great admiration shown him by the number attending. There are now 181 members plus three hon- | orary members. 3 Mrs. W. Mullins and Mrs. S. Chicoine read various resolutions which were proposed at the provincial and national level. The annual Parish Social will be held on Friday, February 27. The annual World Day of Prayer will be held at 2 p.m. on March 5 at the United Church. A motion was made to donate $25.00 to the Sacred Heart program. ; AN AN ROM Te Ml Se i Tg Stamps can be put in the box at the back of : the Church. A film on cancer will be shown at the March meeting for which the ladies of the other churches will be invited to attend. The St. Patrick's Pay Tea will be held on March 17 from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. A bake table will be featured. The meeting closed with a prayer. RIGHARD GORDON REVIEW =o Ee Mon.
