PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS FEBRUARY 11, 1976 TERRACE BAY RECREATION DEPARTMENT WEEKLY REPORT NORTH SHORE HOCKEY THIS WEEKEND: This coming Sunday, February 15th, our Terrace Bay Major Peewees and Bantams will be hosting the Marathon teams. The Peewees game will start at 1:00 p.m. and the Bantam game will start at approximately 2:30 p.m. Support our local teams by attending this Sunday's game. ONTARIO COACHING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME : The Ontario Coaching Development Programme was developed as a result of increasing need expressed by sports governing bodies to have more and better trained coaches. The purpose of the OCDP is to provide amateur coaches with an opportunity to receive formal train- ing in the science and art of coaching; to - improve leadership skills; to upgrade coach- ing knowledge; to award an accredited certi- fication to successful participants. The Recreation Office has received bro- ' chures on this programme and they will be forwarded to various groups in our community. However, anyone interested may drop in to the Recreation Office at any time to pick up a - brochure. In simple terms, this OCDP is a 16 hour programme usually run over two weekends and the cost to the participant is $5.00. The Terrace Bay Recreation Department will be off- ering this programme within the near future. If you are at present involved in any amateur sport in the role of coach, why not give this programme some thought and register whenever the programme is advertised. There are no prerequisites for the course and there is no age limit. Keep watching the Terrace Bay News this programme. RED CROSS WATER SAFETY LEADERS COURSE: The Recreation Office has received informa- tion from Geraldton regarding a Water Safety Leaders Course to be held March 22nd to 26th. Course registration is $20.00 and candidates must have proof of their age (must be 15 years of age on or before the testing date). Application forms are available in the Rec- reation Office for anyone interested. BROOMBALL: interested in pursuing the sport of Broomball, and, as a result, some open sessions will be scheduled at the arena. When sessions are scheduled, all interested people will be in- formed.
