The Ann Latour rink with Mary Hale, third; Dene Clancy, second; and Mary Clare Kennedy, lead won the Senior Ladies Northwestern Divis- ion Playdowns held in Marathon on January 25 26 and 27th. They had a 5 - 0 record against rinks from Port Arthur, Fort William, Kenora, Dryden and Fort Frances. Ann and her rink now go to the Ontario Provincial Playdowns to be held in Guelph on February I6, I7 and I8th. The Terrace Bay Curling Club wish Ann and her girls all the best of luck in their curling and will be hoping to see our Terrace Bay rink in the Dominion Finals in Prince Edward Island. HERITAGE SCHREIBER COUNCIL NEWS Council is waiting for word from the Prov- incial Government on our request for funds 'from Dree for services needed due to expans- ion of Kimberly Clark mill. Services asked for are new Subdivision, water, sewers, _ paving, sumps and a Community Centre with a swimming pool and bowling alleys. At a December meeting Council passed the paving of all roads in town, side walk to side walk or curb to. curb where practical and de- pending on amount of M.T.C. supplementary grants. The Provincial Government has come out in support of the Federal Wage and Price Controls and have instructed municipalities on rest- raint in spending. We are to restrict our spending to I975 levels and in light of these announcements Council will have to judge the above needs on a priority basis. Council has held successful meetings with Marathon Realty on turning over their remain- ing lots to the Township and are trying to have the legal requirements fulfilled in turning over the roads in town to the Town- ship. After being turned down for a Senior Citi- zen's Apartment by the Ministry of Housing, Council has asked the Thunder Bay Housing Authority to make the required study to again try for an apartment complex. The snowmobile By-Law has been recinded and the town now comes under the Motorized Snow- mobile Act at I5 mph. Council is studying ways to improve the Arena, increase facilities and check structure. A consultant will be needed for this study. FEBRUARY 16th, 1976
