Lo JANUARY I4, 1976 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 3 JUNIOR CURLING : The Junior Curlers held their Christmas Party after their last draw before the holi- days and were paid a surprize visit by Santa Claus. Pictured is Norma Crockford (right) assist- ing with the Junior Curling Programme Number Two daughter Ann and Santa Hale. There is a total of twenty-two rinks in the Junior Curling Programme and they wish to thank the Ladies Club who provided hot dogs and soft drinks for their party. N.W. JUNIOR GIRLS' CURLING PLAYDOWNS : On the 2nd and 3rd of January, 1976, Ter- race Bay was represented by four local school -girls in the Northwest Ontario Junior Girls District Playdowns at the Country Club in Thunder Bay. This event was hosted by the Lakehead Ladies Club. The four girls were: Skip - Debbie Johnson; Third - Julie Randa; Second - Cheryl DeJonghe; Lead - Carla Crock- ford. The competition was very keen and the girls curled very well managing only one de- feat. They defeated Kenora in the third game of a five game competition. This win caused quite an upset in the standings as Kenora was previously unbeaten and in very strong con- tention to walk away with the championship. The girls stayed at the Airlane Motel along with some of the other curlers and took advantage of the swimming pool and whirlpool bath. Most of their meals were provided by donations from local merchants. The two days ended with a scrumptuous banquet served court- esy of the Lakehead Ladies Curling Club, fol- lowed by presentation of The Tetley trophy to the Nip-Rock team who were the eventual winn- ers. RAFFLE WINNERS - The Cancer Society Raffle winners were drawn on December 3rd as follows: Afghan & cushion - Mrs. I. Daugherty, Thunder Bay, Painting - Mrs. C. Adduono, Ignace, and Money Tree - B. Hobverson, Thunder Bay. COMMENWEALTH CRUSADERS: The Commenwealth Crusaders played against the Schreiber Mid- gets on Wed. January 7th in Terrace Bay. The final score was 10-2 for the Crusaders. Leading scorers were Peter Dashkewytch and Nick Pluta with hat tricks each. Other scorers for the Crusaders were D. Klug, R. Kurillo, M. Scott and J. Bouchard. Scorers for Schreiber were P.
