DECEMBER 10, 1975 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 3 DISTRICT HOME FOR THE AGED MEETING The Board of Management Thunder Bay Dist- rict Home for the Aged held their regular meet -ing at Birchwood Terrace on November 28 be- ginning at 12:00 noon. Prior to the meeting the building was tour- ed by the Board. More rooms will be needed in 1976 for residents. Therefore, rooms now rent -ed to related services are being considered for resident use. The Administrator is to consult with the tenants, the Ministry of Com- munity & Social Services and the Architect, as there are a number of alternatives to be considered. The Administrator is to make a re- port for the next Board meeting in December. The new equipment recently installed in the kitchen was also inspected by the Board. After lunch the Board began the regular bus- iness meeting passing the accounts for the month of October totalling $101,268.39. The Board agreed to the notice by Shell of a price change as of December 5th amounting to 4.8¢ per gallon. This now brings the price to 39.2¢ per gallon. The Board invited tend- ers for the period of January 1, 1976 to Dec- ember 31, "1976. The Board was advised by a letter from the Ministry requiring that budgets be in prior to December 31st. All operating and capital requirements are to be included. Mrs. Sideen and Mrs. Morrow were appointed as a Budget Committee to work with the Administrator and Treasurer in doing the preliminary work on the budget, which will be ready for the Board meeting in December. The Board approved the awarding of the con -tract for the Birchwood Terrace sign to "M" Signs, which is to be installed prior to Dec- ember 3lst. A fire inspection report for Birchwood Ter -race and Pinewood Court was reviewed. Only one minor change was required at Pinewood Court, however, six changes will be made at Birchwood Terrace. The Administrator reported on a meeting with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications held at Birchwood in connection with the Sen- ior Citizens crossing directly in front of the building. Two recommendations will be worked on, the first being a school crossing sign will be changed to a pedestrian crossing sign during the summer holidays. In the past the school crossing sign had been taken down and there was no sign during this heavy traf- fic period. Another recommendation was that the sign continued page 4........
