NOVEMBER 12, 1975 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 3 COUPAL"'S HONOURED ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY On November lst the family of Dorothy and Paul Coupal honoured them at a dinner in the Red Dog Inn to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary. The immediate family; Mr. and Mrs. Lou Edmunds and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Edmunds from Thunder Bay; and Mr. and Mrs. Marius Papineau: from Terrace Bay all attended the dinner. For the occasion, Dorothy received a cor- sage of red roses from the family. A flower arrangement of pink and white carnations, Baby Breath and silver leaves decorated the table. A Toast was given to the couple by Olga and Marius Papineau. Following the dinner a sur- prise party was held at the Coupal residence 'with close friends attending. A centerpiece of carnations flanked by sil- ver candles in crystal holders adorned the Dining table and an Anniversary cake decorated in blue and white held the original Bride and Groom decorations from their first wedding cake from November 4th 1950. Mary Clara Papineau, their daughter, pre- sented them with a lamp and money tree on be- half of all their friends. Lou Edmunds, Dorothy's cousin, read a poem reminising over the years. Many lovely gifts and cards were also presented. Mary Clara and Paulette Coupal served a hot buffet lunch. Diane and Ted Coupal both proposed a toast to their parents. At this point in the cele- brations Dorothy and Paul cut their Wedding Cake and distributed it to the guests. Out of town guests were: Marie and Lou Ed- munds and son Ricky, Dan and Cathy Edmunds, all of Thunder Bay. GUIDING NEWS An Annual District meeting was held October 27, 1975 at the Community Church. Mrs. Maril- yn Saranpaa, District Commissioner chaired the meeting and opened it with the Guide Prayer. There are five active units now working this] town, 2 Brownie Packs, 1 Guide Company, 1 Ca- det Company and and L.A. (Local Association). All Company and Pack Annual reports were read. L.A. members gave their reports - The Easter Bake Sale - Ingrid Fournier, Mother and Daugh- 'ter Banquet report - Ingrid Fournier, Liquor- ice Allsorts Blitz - Bernice Pytyck, Guide and Brownie Cookie Day Report = Rita McBride, Publicity report - Dorothy Dakin. It was noted that resource people in Terrace} Bay are needed to work with Girl Guides and test them on Badge work. The Brownies have a list of resource people for a selection of Badges of them and a number of these people will work with Guides also. This test-work is very interesting and perhaps a resouce person will only be called upon two or three times a year to help test a girl. If you have a hobby or interest please give us your name. Following the District meeting the Local Association held their meeting, chaired by M. Saranpaa. Yolande Rajotte gave the Treasur- ers report and Dorothy Dakin read the Secreta- ries minutes. Cathy Geldreich and M. Saran- paa gave a report on the Area Meeting held in Sault Ste Marie. Good news was: even though Terrace Bay has only been a dot on the map to a lot of people from the East in the past, it is now considered one of the most hard work- ing, co-operative and active Districts. Our L.A., a group of mothers have been working hard to send representatives of the L.A. and the Blue and Brown Guiders to Trainings and meetings across the area. They also assisted Guiding-On-The-Move Trip, an in province tr- avel that widened our scope and once again proved that Terrace Bay can go places. The main executive positions for the 75/76 season of the L.A. are now filled: Rita McBri- de, Chairman; continued page 4 STRAND THEATRE TERRACE BAY - ONTARIO - TELEPHONE 825-377I SHOW TIMES - MONDAY-THURSDAY 8:00 P.M.
