SEPTEMBER I6, I975 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 3 LEGION BRANCH 223 NEWS Branch 223, Terrace Bay held their monthly meeting on September 9th. A notice of motion was made that Remembrance Day be observed on Saturday, November 8th. Some levelling was dcne in front of the building last weekend and if time permits and help is available it is hoped that some land- scaping be done this fall. The Legion Bingos are very popular. Branch 223 members will be contacted by the Branch President or his substitute to work on the Bingos. Many members have been out to work. The bingos are every second Monday and three to four members are required which means mem- bers would only be required about once a year. When members are called it is hoped they will co-operate. The Ladies Auxiliary will still be running the Bingos and they have done a terri- fic job. It is almost Legion mixed bowling time ag- ain. A poster (continued next column) Lakehead ® University OFF-CAMPUS REGISTRATION FALL AND WINTER 1975/76 University Representatives will be in Terrace Bay on September 22nd between 8:30 and 10:00 in the Lake Superior High School to register students in the following courses: COURSE INSTRUCTOR START DATE History-Second or TBA September 27th Third year If there is insufficient enrolment in a cour- se on the registration date - a minimum of 8 registrations are required for each course - the course will be cancelled. There is some flexibility in course offerings. If, for instance, on the registration date there is insufficient interest in a particu- lar course offering, the course could be changed fo another offering within the same discipline. REPRESENTATIVE: Mr. Brian Peters 825-3782 - Home is up at the Legion Hall for bowlers to sign up. Bowling will be on Friday evenings. TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT For the week ending September 14th a total of 26 occuranzes were investigated by the Ter- race Bay Police Derartment. September 3th a rumber of box cars C.P.R. were cpened and an undisclosed of property stolen. Also on this date were called to juell a disturbance at al business establishment. September - 10th complaints were received from a passing motorist regarding young boys throwing rocks at passing vehicles. At At 9:20 a.m. on September llth police were called to investigate a break and enter at the Terrace Bay Cleaners. At 9:00 the same evening two juveniles were caught in the pre- mises. Investigations revealed that these youths and others were responsible for prev- ious breakins at this business premise. During the week two juveniles were caution- ed with respect to committing damage at the Recreation Centre.
