PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS SEPTEMBER 12, I975 HOLY ANGELS SCHOOL GRADUATION Holy Angels School graduation was held on Wednesday, June 25th. The ceremonies began with Mass at 5:00 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Supper was served by the Grade Seven moth- ers and students in the Town Hall at 5:30 p.m. for the graduates, their parents and invited guests. The following students received awards: Anna Racioppi - the Dominic Savio award for School Spirit presented by Sr. Carol McKerral. Tina Redins and Virginia Stortini - The C.W.L. award for combined Effort and Ability, presen- ted by Mrs. Lorette McParland. Sally Achneepineskum - the Dean McHugh award for Outstanding Progress, presented by Mr. Robert McEwan. Anna Racioppi and Steven Anderson - the Spez- iale award for Combined Athletic and Academic Ability, presented by Mr. Tony Speziale. Anna Racioppi - the Knights of Columbus award for Proficiency, presented by Mr. Ed Borutski. Father F.J. Meyer presented the students with their diplomas and school pins. Colleen Ryan gave the Valedictory Address. Mr. R. Mc- Ewan thanked everyone for making the event such a success and invited all those present to attend the dance which was held in the school. The A.C.W. of St. John's Anglican Church held their first regular meeting of the season on September 9th in the Church Hall. Twelve members were present. A Christmas gift, penny auction was planned for November 14 in the Town Hall basement. A bid was submitted to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion for the November llth supper. The first visit of the new Bishop of Algoma Bishop F.F. Nock was discussed. He plans on being in St. Johns, Schreiber, on Friday the" 19th at 7:30 P.M. for a service of Holy Com- munion. All members are urged to attend and meet our new Bishop after at a social in the Church Hall. Everyone will be asked to donate articles for the penny auction. The meeting closed with prayers and then a delicious.lunch was served after the meeting when a gift was presented to Joan Hutchinson on her departure to live in Toronto. SCHREIBER SOCIAL SPECTRUM Miss Cathy Anderson, bride - elect of this month, was honored at a community shower held in St. John's Anglican Church Hall. Receiving with her were her fiance's mother, Mrs. Adri- enne Levigne; her Bridesmaid, Miss Joanne La- point; and her mother, Mrs. J.F. Anderson. ? Mrs. H.W. Gellert was the table hostess and the servitors were the Misses Linda Singleton, Nancy Armstrong and Ann Bailey and Mrs. War- ren Morrill. Mesdames Ralph Morrill, Harry Martinsen, Ted Morrow, Terry O'Driscoll and Ambrose McGrath replenished. The Guest book was attended by Mimi Drabit, of Thunder Bay, and the gifts opened by Mrs. Paul Gauthier and Mrs. Frank Costa. When Janet Rome of Thunder Bay learned that her former classmate, Mary Ellen Gerow (now Mrs. Dennis Bouchie of Kamloops) was in Schr- eiber, she came down to spend a day of laugh- ter reminiscing over their years while train- ing as nurses in McKellar Hospital, graduating in 1969, Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morrill were the latter's neice Mrs. Jim Ste- wart, her husband and daughter Shannon, of Tillsonburg. : Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bouchie with children Corinne and Kristin, of Kamloops are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gerow and Mr. Bouchie's par- ents. : Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bourke was the Schreiber student this year, achieving the "hat trick" academically, winning an Ont- ario Scholarship of $400.00 for maintaining 80% throughout the year in her studies, $350. District Scholarship from the Royal Canadian Legion, Class A, zone 3, and $100.00 from the local Ladies Auxiliary to the Legion, Branch 109.
