MARTIN'S WIN RODEO TROPHY During Police Week the Terrace Bay Police conducted a Safety programme throughout the schools. At the close of Police Week a Bicycle Rodeo was held. Police Chief David Barnett and Mrs. Peggy Helmink, Chairman of the Police Com -mittee went to St. Martin's School to present the Trophies. Michael Anderson on behalf of St. Martin's accepted the trophy from Mrs. Helmink. The individual trophies were presented by Chief Barnett to -'Grade I & 2-Barry Aulenback Grade 2 & 3-Joe Caranci, Grade 4-Richard Gram- atowski, Grade 5-Paulette Theriault, Grade 6 Andrew Gramatowski, Grade 7-Danny Fournier, Grade 8-John Bouchard. Five individual trophies were also present- ed at the Lake Superior Public School. Grade 2-Eric Samp, Grade 3-Janet Chappel, Grade 4 & 5-Jim Cornfield, Grade 5 & 6- -Lloyd Reid, Grade 7-Catherine Lang. continued page I6 TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES The regular meeting of Terrace Bay Township Council was held Wednesday, June IIth with Councillors Hale, Helmink, Kennedy and Reeve Roy Bray present. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Correspondence included: A letter from Mr. and Mrs. G. Aulenback re purchase of House #73. ; A letter from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications re: Airport Development Pro- gram in Terrace Bay brought Council to the con- clusion that due to current township expenses no airport development is foreseen before - 1978. Mrs. Debbie Plantt and Mrs. Ann Baron sent resignations from the Library staff and Board respectively. These will be acknowled with thanks and regret. A letter was received from Premier Davis re followup on regional brief presented at Thunder Bay. A letter from Nick Matush re: request for water supply east of Texaco will have Council look into the cost of this supply. The Aguasabon Golf Club wrote re: erecting a highway sign across from the Ministry of Natural Resources. Council gave approval for a sign to be erected near Centennial Park. The members of the Library Board requested the Librarian be classed as a full time munic- ipal employee. The number of hours worked presently class the Librarian as a regular part-time employee and council decided to abide by this policy. By-laws read a first, second and third time and passed were: By-law No. 273 to strike mill rates for 1975; By-law No. 274 continued page 2
