PAGE 20 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 28, 1975 FAREWELL PARTIES FOR THE GARVINS Before leaving Terrace Bay John and Dora Garvin were entertained at a buffet luncheon and dance given by the Instrument Crew and Electrical Department of Kimberly Clark of whome John was foreman. , . The delicious lunch was served by the wiv- es and afterwards Raoul Fournier on behalf of everyone present had the honour of presenting John and Dora with a beautiful oil painting by Mary Middaugh of the Aguasabon falls. Dancing to taped music was enjoyed by all to round off the evening. Previous to this farewell party, Dora was the guest of honour at a ladies get together at the home of Marg Simmer. Fourteen ladies from the ladies evening, ladies afternoon and two from the mixed bowling league who Dora bowled with had a good time and Freda Knight on behalf of the ladies presented Dora with an Amethyst Bracelet as a memento of her years in Terrace Bay. The bridge club that Dora played in, took her out to dinner at the Red Dog recently and at the end of a scrumptious meal Dora was presented with an Amethyst Pendant to match the Bracelet she has received from her bowling friends. This is local work and will be treas- ured by Dora. Freda and John Knight held a dinner party at their home for a few close friends of John and Dora's. Ab and Alice Farrow, Phil and Tom Turner, the Knights and Garvins enjoyed a soc- ial evening following the dinner. On John's last day in Terrace Bay he was the guest at a Kimberly Clark retirement lunch- eon held at the Red Dog Inn. A few of his personal friends and the Electrical Management staff were present. ST. MARTIN'S WALK-A-THON FINANCIAL SUCCESS St. Martin's Separate School Annual Walk- a-thon was again a most successful venture this year being held on Saturday, May 24th. I50 participants started the Walk-a-thon with 95% (I42) walking as far as Schreiber. 92 started back with a total of 78 complet- ly walking the total distance of 32 kilometres. The first six finishers are picturés below - Back Row = Dave Falzetta (Ist); Michael Moher (4th); Front Row - Ray Bouchard (3rd); Pat Moher (2nd); Craig Anderson (6th) and Billy Caron (5th). Top money makers were - Rita McBride $I0O0. with half going to St. Martins and half to Holy Angels School; Terry Morris, CBQ Radio, $99.40; Diane Caron $55.00; Patti Regis $44.00; Owen McCullough $43.20-only walking I6 kilom- etres; Stephen Sechesky $35.00; Tom Fournier $33.00; Judy Moher $30.00; Diane Moher $30.00; Danny Fournier $30.00. I0 money makers. The three youngest were Emmett Houston, Lorne McBride and Danny O'Keefe walking I6 kilometres, all kindergarten students. Adults walking 32 kilometres were Dave Falzetta, Art Beaulieau, Rita McBride, Lillian Sechesky, Terry Morris and Mike Anderson. An approximate figure of pledges to come in is $1500.00. This figure is overwhelming compared to previous years. These are only the top Terry Morris from CBQ Radio and his son came from Thunder Bay to participate in the Walk-a-thon. Terry completed the 32 kilometres and raised $99.40 in pledges.
