MoInt- osh, Director of Quetico Centre, which was read to Council, commending the Reeve for his particular contribution to the recent conference on Government et the district level in Northwestern Ontario. Mr, MoIntosh ended his letter by say- ing "Your participation in the seminar was rewarding to all of us here at Quetico. Those are the times that give us the drive to continue our work." The Ministry of Labour of the Ontario Gov- ernment will increase the minimum rate of pay from $2.25 to $2.40 effective May Ist. This rate is effective for all general hourly rated "employees and is the minimum wages that employ --ers are required to pay their employees in Ontario. There are a few exceptions to this rate e.g construction workers are to receive a minimum of $2.65 per hour. Those persons hiring on a job with no experience can be classified as a learner for the first thirty days of employ- ment at a rate of $2.30 per hour.
